'Conflict of Intimacy' by I. Kendrick

Blurb-

Death row inmate Naomi Pratton accepted her fate of being executed by lethal injection. However, in the last few days of her life she did not expect to fall for a man that would reveal the biggest surprise of her life.

Read an excerpt:
Naomi heard the echo of the door slamming down from the hallway of solitary confinement. She quickly stood up from the bed and faced the mirror. Notwithstanding her unpolished appearance she was still a gorgeous woman in her early 30s. She tied her long brown hair into a bun. Still gazing at the mirror, she focused into her deep light brown eyes and glided her hand down her cheek. The simultaneous sounds of footsteps and dangling keys were approaching closer to her cell. When the lock unclicked she scrambled towards the door. A correction officer stood in the doorway of Naomi's cell holding a tray of food.
"Hello Naomi! It's going to be a good lunch today, pork chops and string beans and for dessert applesauce." The correction officer handed Naomi the tray.
Naomi looked at the food and walked over to the sink to set the tray down. She slowly walked back toward the correction officer until he towered over her and she gently clutched his cock and balls with one hand. "Let's have a change of menu, I'm not in the mood for pork chops and string beans. Today I want one big beef sausage and two supple potatoes." She stood on her toes so her mouth could reach his ear. "And for dessert I want vanilla cream pudding."
The correction officer was nervously flattered by Naomi's aggressive seduction. He jerked himself away from her grip. "I can't lose my job and reputation for having sex with a convicted murderer; it wouldn't matter how good of a lay you are."
"Officer Quinn, I'm going to be put to death in five days! Why are you so scared? Afraid you're going to get me pregnant! For me, your dick is the last dick on Earth!" Naomi took off her hideous orange prison garb unveiling her slender figure, "I will make it worth the risk."
Officer Quinn stepped back outside the cell door and looked down the hallway. He strode back inside the cell and quietly closed the door.

'Wolf Creek Enforcer (Texas Pack #2)' by Jo Ellen

Blurb:

Anything can happen on the highway.

When Ian hits the road to find his mate, he isn't expecting to find her in the free-spirited hitchhiker he picks up in New Mexico. The head enforcer for his pack has a new challenge now, because a dark wizard wants Melanie for her magical abilities, and he'll stop at nothing to get her.

Finding Ian was more than Melanie could have hoped for when she began her journey. The hard part will be telling him of her family's legacy and the task that is hers alone.

Read an excerpt:

“Baby? Come on, wake up. I’ve got you.”
Ian maneuvered his body to where he could sit on the shelf. He didn’t notice the cold mud against his backside. Holding her in his lap, he ran a finger down her jaw. She was burning up, her face flushed. While her body was pale, her face was not.
Ian stiffened when he saw the bruising on her cheek. He was going to kill that fucking wizard.
He had to get her out of there and to a doctor, fast. Something wasn’t right. She could not get this sick from a virus so quickly. Then again, what the hell did he know? He was not a doctor. His mind was swimming. Kill the bastard later, he had to get Melanie to a hospital.Ian howled for Devlin. “Tear this den apart so I can get her out of here.” No way would he take her down into the water.
While Devlin worked, Ian spoke softly to her. “You have to wake up, Babe. I cannot live without you. Come on, babe, I love you.” He gently kissed her lips.
“I’m not sleeping beauty,” Melanie growled. Her voice was rough with fatigue. “That’s two, Fluffy.”
Hearing his pack, he shouted, “Help Devlin tear this den apart, we’re sitting on a shelf above the waterline.”
The guys made quick work of removing the sticks and debris the beavers had used to build their home.
Melanie had trouble keeping her eyes open, she felt horrible. Something was wrong, she could feel it throughout her body. This was not the common cold virus or flu. The best description she could come up with was that she felt contaminated. She was so weak she could barely keep her eyes open.
Feeling the sun on her face, she squinted and saw seven naked men standing in the water. As weak as she was, she could not leave well enough alone.
“I must be dead, cause I see seven naked men surrounding me. Cool,” with that, she passed out.

'My Wolf King (Wolf Town Guardians #1)' by Rose Wynters

Blurb

Wolf Town Guardians - Born to walk this world as both wolf and human, these men take their role as protectors very seriously. Enjoying sensual pleasures as they please, this group of alpha werewolves are the finest when it comes to protecting their hidden settlement.

Guardians are the masters of self-control, taking pride in their authority and hard, muscled bodies. That all changes at the first scent of their mates. Their control snaps. The mating heat begins.

This is their story.

Book One, Wolf Town Guardians

 - King of a large settlement of werewolves in the rural Missouri countryside, Alexander Petrov is stunned when the residents of Nashoba become victims to a series of panther shifter attacks. Desperate to put an end to it before their existence becomes known, his life is changed when he rescues his mated female in an isolated cabin. The panthers believe she knows the location of the Jewel of Adolpha, and they won't stop until they get it back.

Carole Anne Boswick is horrified to discover the supernatural world is real when a creature that looks like Bigfoot breaks into her home. Rescued at the last moment by a gorgeous and naked male, she decides to throw all caution to the wind and experience the promises his rock-hard body is making. The decadent sensuality she finds in his arms comes at a price, though. Is it one she is willing to pay?

The mating heat is on, and it's more powerful than anything Carole Anne has experienced before. Utilizing the services of the pack's Sheik, Alexander satisfies her body while his guardians fight to keep them safe. Will she submit to her King?

Read an excerpt:
He groaned again, the sound guttural and drawn out. Carol Anne tore her eyes away and slammed her mouth shut, concerned for the man that had tried to save her life. “I’m so sorry,” she said, grabbing his legs gently. “Let me help you lie back so I can check your leg.”

He lay back quickly and rolled towards her. She bent over and moved her face closer to examine his wound, checking both sides. It didn’t appear as bad as she thought it would, but there didn’t appear to be an exit wound. The bullet was sitting somewhere in his massive thigh, and it would have to come out.

“I’ll be right back,” she said quickly, hating to leave him. His eyes were squeezed shut, his face wincing in pain. The door was still open, though, and she wanted to check her phone for a signal. Although the window was broken out, Carole Anne didn’t want to leave the door open for that thing to return.

Since his eyes were shut, she allowed herself one last, wistful look. She was going to have to find him a blanket. The sight of all that male perfection made it difficult for her to think.

Holding back a sigh, she quickly turned away. He threw his well-muscled arm over his face and groaned again as she took off in the direction of the door.

Read an exclusive excerpt from 'America's Darlings' by Gail Bridges

by Gail Bridges

Genre: Erotica
This book contains explicit content not intended for people under 18 years of age.

Leah Collins is a sexual gymnast, a brilliant athlete poised to compete in the Mexico City Olympic Games of 2112. She takes pride in her advanced skills in the sexual arts, but performing Courtesan’s Treat and Raging Volcano in front of thousands of cheering fans is no easy task, especially when sexual malfunctions threaten.

At her side, a pillar of strength and compassion, is her best friend, Benson White. He is the one who scrapes her from the ground when her self-destructive tendencies surface. Benson is a talented sexual gymnast in his own right, the other half of America’s Darlings.

They hope for a gold medal. What neither of them expects is to fall in love.

Read an exclusive excerpt:
“Whore! Whore of Babylon!”

I turned.

A red-faced woman stood behind the barrier rope, screaming.

I recognized her. She had been lurking at the airport late the night before when I had arrived in Mexico City with the sexual gymnastics team. Despite furious coaches and horrified airport personnel, she had flung her sign reading “Save our Olympics!” back and forth, pointing and jeering and calling us dreadful names as we passed by her on our way to catch the subway to the Olympic Village. Her worst insults were directed at me. I am, you see, the female half of America’s Darlings.

Surely you’ve heard of America’s Darlings?

Benson and I earned the moniker last year when we won the Internationals in Moscow. The media went crazy for us, couldn’t get enough of us, wouldn’t leave us alone. The sportscaster covering the event, a guy named Ryan Markham, had coined the name America’s Darlings—and it had stuck. No-one had asked Benson and me whether we liked it or even wanted it. Luckily, we do like it. At least I do. The extra attention earned us the adoration of a nation enchanted with our brand-new sport, millions of fans intent on following our every move.

I’m still not used to it.

It throws me when people recognize me. Complete strangers call me by name, act as if they know me, comment on my performances, give advice or offer to help me to practice, and it gets me every time.

But I like it. I do.

'Love in the RV Park' by Jeffrey Ross

Love in the RV Park: A Romance for Men
by Jeffrey Ross

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
This quirky and fast moving romance revolves around passionate lovers in tangled and mostly unfulfilling relationships. The tale is complete with hot housewives, rock musicians, exotic dancers, motorcycles, steamy nail polish-melting love scenes, hard drinking college professors, hybrid alien children, a romantic bug exterminator, girl fights, a New Year’s Eve brawl, religious zealotry, prophecies (The Temple of Just DOET) —and more. Ultimately, Love in the RV Park is about the male perception [misperception?] of the female psyche.—and the novel attempts to answer an age-old question: What do women want? Laugh or cry—you’ll come away enlightened after reading this zany romance.
Read an excerpt:
Shadows on the Sun
The RV Park Couple No One Has Met
Tennessee Williams knew distinctly
—No shadows dance upon the Sun
And now you know it, too
But the sun shines anyway...
Yes, the pair lives together in an older single wide
A two-room palace smelling like ash trays, old coffee, and ecumenical paint.
He might have looked like Elvis (the 50’s Elvis) three decades ago…
She is still a beauty, hardened some. Though her tattoos have lost that etched
and sexy look, she still turns heads... and has a poignant “way” any male or
female might recognize.
Yes, they still cut impressive figures together—but anachronistic—
Sometime, long ago, they left Public lives together
and rode a bus to Hamilton City, and thought they’d stay a day or two—walking
hand-in-hand through the diesel fumes, neither excited nor dismayed. some time went by—
Then they waited to see if spouses were angry or perplexed—
They never heard a thing from the Old World—now, in late middle
age, Still they live and love in a rent-by-the-week mobile home,
Bathed in eerie and accusing pink light each winter morning—
Haunted by frosty windows in the dark sky December…
They wander to the Blue Caboose Diner for most meals
Coupling down cracked and slippery concrete sidewalks
Without cares but with many cares...
He listens to the world on an old AM transistor radio
She reads newspapers someone left behind—
and paints her nails and adjusts toe rings each morning …
He shaves a weathered face carefully, with a blade and mug of manly lather—
The modern age, the spiritus mundi, well that means nothing to this dyad. They have each other...
Sure, they live and love in a rented mobile
They love with the freshness of just-cut Timothy Hay, of Morning Glories, and the late April Rain…
There are no shadows dancing on the Sun…
But the sun shines anyway …
Now the wily scoundrel must choose: walk away or wager the one thing he can't afford to lose—his heart.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Read an exclusive excerpt:
The Séance

"The spirits speak of danger, yes," Celestia said solemnly, in answer to Silver’s question.

"What kind of danger?"

Celestia closed her eyes, rocking rhythmically for a moment behind her crystal ball. Her purple turban listed aft, allowing her blonde curls to jut past her ears, like corkscrews. But somehow, as Celestia waved her chubby, bejeweled fingers over the odd mist that was rising in that ball, Silver had to concede that the fortune-teller maintained her dignity.

"Retribution," Celestia announced dramatically.

Every man who'd been holding his breath at the séance released it on a gasping rush of air—and just as quickly gulped another.

"Hot damn," Papa muttered. "Penhalion, you and your boys aren't planning any dynamite mischief, are you?"

The squat, feisty miner scowled. "Now see here, Nichols, we may be immigrants, but we're law-abiding—"

"Gentlemen, gentlemen." Celestia held up her hands for silence. “Please. Communication with the otherworld is a delicate matter. One cannot bully answers out of spirits. One must show gratitude. And respect." She shot a blistering look at Buckholtz, who was scribbling notes into his news reporter’s notebook.

"Now then." Celestia settled more comfortably on her pillow, threw her slipping shawl over her shoulders, and gripped her crystal ball once more. "I shall ask the questions. You will listen for answers. Spirits, is someone in this circle in danger?"

Everyone in the room jumped as an audible thud answered her query.

"Does one rap mean yes?"

A single rap answered, this time from the other side of the room.

"How will you answer no?"

Two raps sounded close to the window. So did a faint scratching noise.

"How the devil is she making those sounds—"

"Shh!"

Everybody at the table glared daggers at Buckholtz for interrupting.

"Is a man from this circle in danger?" Celestia intoned.

One rap. Silver frowned, glancing uneasily at the shadow-steeped walls. Had Papa helped his fiancé rig the knocking noises? If so, how had they done it so convincingly?

"Will there be bloodshed?" Celestia demanded.

Silence rolled like a tangible fog through the candle-lit chamber. Silver counted five, perhaps six heartbeats before the answer finally knelled: One rap.

"For heaven's sake, who is it? Who is it!" Daisy wailed.

"Is it the husband of Daisy Trevelyan?" Celestia intoned.

Two raps.

The elderly socialite sobbed with relief.

"Very well," Celestia said. "Then we shall determine who among the remaining gentlemen it is. Spirits," Celestia called, her voice rising in volume and power, "we seek the intended victim’s name. Kindly knock when I state the first letter. A," she said slowly. "B." Each syllable resonated with dramatic authority. "C—"

A horrific crash drowned out her voice. Papa leaped to his feet. So did Rafe and Daisy.

"It's the ghost!" Daisy shrieked, pointing at a renegade crab puff. It bounced from the armchair to the floor. Before everyone's astonished eyes, the pile of china on top of the cushion toppled, shattering into a dozen pieces. Slowly, spookily, the white ticking on the armchair began to rise.

"Merciful God on Sunday," Buckholtz choked, his eyes bugging out to twice their normal size. The ghost gave a sleepy bark, and the newsman drew his .45.

"No!" Rafe shouted, lunging for the newsman's arm.

The Colt fired. Plaster showered from the ceiling. Daisy wilted in a dead faint.

And the ghost, yiking in terror, streaked out from under the ticking to dash beneath Silver's petticoats.

'Love & Angst: A Collection of Poems and Prose' by LP Lloyd, Jr.

In what at first glance would seem to be contrary to the promotion of his new book, “Love & Angst.” Author LP Lloyd Jr. was informed today that several readers of his collection of love poems and prose have accused him of successfully enticing them into indulging their inner muse.

“It’s incredulous. I mean, it’s got to be a joke,” stated Lloyd when informed of the allegations. "Who knows where this is all coming from. 'Love & Angst' is a collection of raw emotion, that can only emerge within the beauty of a love you can have but once in a lifetime. It’s about the journey… When one has lived, and loved, and lost, and all that exists in between. It has nothing to do with some sordid physical dalliance. It’s beautiful. It’s transcendent. It’s an outpouring straight from a man's heart. There’s nothing devious, salacious or even humorous about it. It’s about how women long to be cherished and know the man they’re with aches for them. It’s a serious literary work. It’s mostly poetry for God’s sake!”

Indeed. Further investigation into the Amazon website where the so called “serious literary work” is offered for sale revealed

Love & Angst” is simply a recounting of the adventures of a hopeless romantic and his attempts to find true love. Told through the poems and prose of interactions with the objects of his desire - Women whose attentions alternatively take him to the dizzying heights of man’s highest emotion – Love - and then drive him to the lowest depths of man’s darkest emotion – Angst.

Previous readers of the book had this to say [Names withheld as they could possibly be victims]

A: “. . .a beautiful piece of work. Perfect timing on a personal level and words that most beings on the planet can associate with. My own heart is healing just by reading it.”

B: “Yes, it tells a story, definitely elicits emotions (Kleenex nearby!), and, I believe, reaches its target audience as stated in the introduction.”

C: “I felt happiness, uncertainty, fear, sadness. I felt desire, both physically and emotionally.”

Evidence suggests, the book is more than just a collection of poems, letters and illustrations. It is a story that relates the hopes and dreams of new beginnings when encountering a new love, the give and take of lovers getting to know each other and the devastating desolation that results when love’s promise falls short and disintegrates. It is unfortunately, a story of hope and disappointment too many of us can relate to. And therein lays the point of “Love & Angst” - expressing these emotions - though they may not be the darkest nor the most sublime of stories. In a world where most get too little positive or too much negative of these feelings to put into their own words, “Love & Angst” much like listening to a popular song, attempts to assist the reader in “living” - or perhaps more accurately “re-living” - the moments.

It would seem that "Love & Angst" is a book for anyone who has ever desired to be the subject of and inspire love poems, love letters and the like but doesn't exist within such an environment. From its pages spring a compelling and emotionally moving story of love and angst, that has a beginning, a middle and an end. So far, no charges have been filed.

Are the accusations accurate? You decide.

Review of 'Swept Away for Christmas: A Starfish Shores Holiday' by MJ Fredrick, Tanya Michaels, & Trish Milburn

SWEPT AWAY FOR CHRISTMAS

by MJ Fredrick, Tanya Michaels and Trish Milburn

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Christmas isn’t always snow-covered with a frosty chill in the air. Sometimes it’s sandy beaches with balmy breezes.
And sometimes we find love in the most unexpected places, a place like Starfish Shores.
Here Comes McBride
Shelby James has only truly loved one man — but Finn McBride broke her heart when emotional baggage from his past came between them. Now, Shelby is serving as maid of honor at a beach wedding where Finn is the best man. Will reuniting with Finn be a Christmas miracle, or the worst mistake she's ever made?
Two Hearts a Leaping
After a break-up with her high school sweetheart, Harley Blume retreats to her brother's home in Starfish Shores to lick her wounds and figure out what she's doing next. But her brother is in the Coast Guard reserves and heading out of town, leaving her in the care of Liam Channing, his best friend since they played college football together. She's never been able to keep her tongue in her mouth when good-looking, easy-going Liam is around. How is she going to find her way if she can't keep her balance?
Cruisin’ for a Kiss
When Avery Phillips loses her magazine job right before Christmas, she heads back home to Starfish Shores to spend the holidays with the grandparents who raised her. The plan is to hit the job search hard so that she has a new position when the New Year arrives. What isn’t part of the plan is heading up a remodeling effort at her family’s beach motel or falling for the man helping to save the business into which her grandparents put a lifetime of work. As Christmas draws closer, will Avery stick to the original plan to leave town again or take a chance with Luke Taylor and a new life she never expected?
Read an excerpt:
Two Hearts a-Leaping
by MJ Fredrick
The pole bent under the weight of the fish’s fight, and Liam put his hand over Harley’s to show her how to reel it in, how to let the fish play it out, then reel it back in. Impatient, she tugged the pole away and worked it herself, using the rhythm he’d showed her, a rhythm that he shouldn’t be thinking was like sex, with its give and take.
Seriously, Sam had been gone a little over twenty-four hours. Liam should have better self-control than to be lusting over his sister already.
He leaned over the edge of the boat, joined by Mia, to watch for the fish. A mackerel, most likely, and depending on the size, it might be good eating. He’d bet she’d let him clean it for her, if she wouldn’t let him help her bring it in.
“What is it?” she asked breathlessly.
“Don’t see it yet. You doing okay?”
She nodded shortly, concentrating on the pole and the reel and the rhythm. Her scarf had fallen loose and her hat was on the deck and her face was flushed, her eyes bright. God, he wanted to kiss her. Bringing her out here had been a bad, bad decision. At least in the bar, on the beach, he could walk away, she could walk away.
He needed to walk away now. He popped to his feet and crossed the deck to retrieve his fishing net. Mia followed, then headed back to the edge of the boat, her tail whipping furiously. Liam leaned over to look. Sure enough, she’d hooked a mackerel. He grinned.
“You want to reel him in, or grab him with the net?”
“I’ll reel him in.”
Liam reached over with the net, guiding the end of the pole to aim the fish, and scooped. He lifted the heavy flopping fish into the net so she could see it.
“Did you bring your phone? You could text a picture to Sam.”
She fished in her pocket and handed it to him. He traded her for the net, which she had to hold with both hands, while he opened the camera app and snapped a shot. Since she was bobbling the net, he tucked the phone in his own pocket and took the net from her.
“Dinner tonight?” he asked as she stared at it.
“Oh, no, I can’t eat him. Let’s throw him back.”
“Are you sure? He’s a good-sized one, and I have a chest right over there for our catch.”
“No, I don’t think I want to eat him.”
“If I catch something, will you eat it?”
“I guess, sure.”
He reached into the net and with some difficulty, snipped the hook from the fish’s mouth, and was about to dump him back into the ocean to swim away.
“Wait!”
He froze and looked over his shoulder at her.
“You said Mia would lick him.”
“Right.” He looked from woman to hopeful dog, reached into the net for the wriggling fish and grasped it in both hands before offering it to the dog.
Mia sniffed the length of the fish, then swiped her tongue along its length. Harley was still laughing when he tossed the fish back in the water.
And then Mia jumped in after it.
**My thoughts**
Christmas is a good time of year to seek out stories that make you feel all warm inside, as you curl up on those cold nights. The three short stories contained in this volume can do just that. Not only do you have smoking hot men sweeping women off their feet, you also have three stories that take place in the South, where snow is almost an unheard of phenomenon. Thoughts of warm breezes fueling a charged air that is already ripe for romance will envelope you as you read about these three couples who are starting anew. The book overall is a quick read. Having three shorter stories within it makes it even better for the hectic holiday season. Honestly, a good beach and a hot romance is good at any time of year. This was a quick, fun, spicy read.
