BLURB:

Disgraced…

Lilly Talbot never imagined she would be starting her life over again. Losing her good name for something she didn’t do has driven her to move into an old lake house she inherited in Vermont. Upon arrival, she is shocked. Half the roof is about to slide into Lake Champlain. Even more upsetting, the man who can fix it will only agree if she trades him room and board for his labor. What will the good people of Haley think of her sharing a house with the handsome bachelor?

A man with a past…

Connor “Mac” McQueen, once one of the infamous Whiz Kids of Wall Street, spent three years in prison for insider trading. Only one thing sustained him during his time inside, the thought of owning Point Cottage, a home he’d fallen in love with years ago. He plans to turn the house into a stunning showcase for his eco-friendly home construction business.

Secrets and lies…

Now someone’s trying to drive Lilly from her home. Is it someone from her past? Mac has secrets of his own-- that could ruin lives if revealed. But if Lilly and Mac are to have a future together they must first delve into the past for answers and accept some difficult truths about each other. Only then, will they know if true love is in their hearts.

Read an exclusive excerpt:
When everything was on the table, Mac pulled out Lilly's chair for her then seated himself. He poured them both a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and surveyed the table. "If this tastes half as good as it looks, I'll be one very satisfied man." He took a bite of the beef and closed his eyes. "Christ, Lilly. You nailed it. I haven't had Chateaubriand in a very long time, but I know it's never tasted as good as this."

Lilly smiled at Mac's obvious pleasure. "Thank you." She couldn't help but imagine what it would take to satisfy other parts of his life.

"Did you get any painting done today?"

"Yes. Three solid hours. I'm getting back into a regular routine and it feels so good." When she got to a certain point in a project, something clicked and she automatically tapped into the emotion and spirituality of her subject. It was amazing and powerful, and it was back. She took a sip of her wine. "How many of your friends are coming tomorrow night?"

Crash! The stained glass window directly in front of the dining room table imploded—glass flying everywhere. Their eyes met in shock.

"Get down," Mac bellowed, shoving her back at the same time another explosion caused more glass to fly into the room.

Lilly's chair tipped over, and she went sprawling. "My God, was that a gun?" Small pieces of glass were all over her. "Did someone shoot at us?"

When Mac didn't answer, Lilly jerked around to look at him. He was face down on the floor, the left side of his head bleeding profusely. Shaking like crazy, and keeping herself as low to the ground as possible, she took hold of Mac’s arms and pulled him across the slick wood floor towards the corner of the room, away from the smashed window.

She yanked her long sleeve pink t-shirt over her head, thinking to use it as a pressure bandage for his head, but the thick shard of glass sticking out of his skull stopped her. Knowing she could do more harm than good, she left it be. Sweet Jesus, he looked pale, so unnatural for big as life Mac. With two fingers she slid his cell out of his jeans pocket. Damn it. Her hands kept twitching but finally she punched in 9-1-1.

When the operator answered, Lilly wasn't able to form any coherent words. The thought that someone was outside who might want to kill her or Mac, scared her to death. She kept licking her dry lips like that would help. Finally she forced out, "A man, a man has been shot." She lost control of her hand and the phone clattered to the glass strewn floor.
