Loved Up
by Scarlett Scott

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Book one in the Coastal Heat series.
When she accidentally runs into the back of a gorgeous stranger’s truck at a stoplight, the last thing on Kassie’s mind is indulging in her deepest, hottest fantasies with him. Until he shows up on her doorstep as the contractor she’d hoped to hire to remodel her home and things get interesting…fast.
With a sexy drawl, skilled hands and a body that makes her panties all but melt, Jax is exactly the kind of man she shouldn’t get involved with after breaking off her engagement and starting over in another state. But she’s helpless to resist the powerful desire he makes her feel, and before long she’s letting him have his wicked way with her all over town.
Jax knows falling for a woman like Kassie’s a bad idea. He’s experienced enough heartbreak to see the signs. He can tell she’s ready to run, but when she’s in his arms, he’ll do everything he can to make her stay.
A Romantica® contemporary erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave
Read an excerpt:
She got out of her car and realized she was still wearing her pajama bottoms and an old concert t-shirt. Nothing said I’m an adult like puppy-patterned fleece and Matchbox Twenty. Dear God. She ran a hand through her sleep-mussed brown hair and hoped she didn’t look like a complete mess, futile as that was.
Model Man stopped less than a foot away. He was almost scowling at her as his gaze went from his cracked bumper, to her, then back to his bumper again.
“I’m really sorry for hitting your car,” she said, feeling like the awkward girl in school facing the class jock.
“Truck,” he growled.
Huh? He really was taking this alpha man thing to new levels. Not exactly a conversationalist. She blinked. “Excuse me?”
“I don’t drive a car,” he elaborated, his gaze intense and discomfiting on hers. “I drive a truck.”
Really? He was quibbling over her word choice at a time like this? She inwardly downgraded his sex appeal by a few points. But fine, she could play his game. After all, she was the one in the wrong, the one who was severely lacking in the multitasking department.
“I’m sorry,” she repeated. “I didn’t mean to hit your truck. I don’t know what I was thinking.”
He ran a hand through his hair again. “That makes two of us.”
She swallowed a retort. “It was an accident. My fault. Look, let’s just exchange insurance info and move on with our days.”
He nodded. “Good plan. I’ve got to be somewhere.”
Oh good. They had reached a common ground. She tried not to frown at him, because he was as beautiful as he was grumpy. Did he really think she’d ruined her only vehicle on purpose? Or his for that matter? “Me too.”
“I’ll grab mine and we’ll swap. No need to call the cops. I’m already late.” He turned on his boot heel and gave her another excellent view of his tight bum.
“Do you have on panties?”
“Oh, Zach.” Theresa sighed into the phone. The sound of her weight shifting atop fabric reached his ears. “What am I going to do with you?”
“I could offer all manner of suggestions.” Zach’s mouth went dry and his voice had acquired a sultry tone, deliberately suggestive, a hint of the lewd.
“Oh, you. Stop!” She giggled with delight and there was nothing in her attitude to make him believe she meant anything but the opposite.
His slacks had become tight in the crotch so he unfastened the sliding tabs. As a rule, he went commando because it made undressing to shift forms easier, but he happened to be wearing black silk boxers under his suit. With one hand, he shoved his boxers down to mid-thigh and his aroused shaft sprang into his hand. His balls were swollen and tender, and the slightest pressure felt exquisite. He muffled a moan.
“Where are you, Theresa?”
“In bed.”
“Tell me what you’re wearing.”
“Zach!” Theresa sounded scandalized, but he also detected the note of intrigue in her voice. Her breathing grew rapid and uneven. “I’m wearing a white robe. I just got out of the shower.”
“Is it silk?”
“No, you know I can’t afford silk, silly. It’s cotton.” His gaze flickered to the gift he’d bought her and he licked his lips. His hand stroked his engorged member, fingers and thumb encircling the girth. “Anything else?”
REBEL WITH A CAUSE?
Justin Morant can't believe he answered an online dating ad! Turns out, beautiful Mackenzie Hawthorne is looking for a ranch foreman, not a husband. Good thing, because marriage isn't in the injured bull rider's future. Justin is happy to take up the cause of saving the Hanging H ranch—and then there's the bonus of playing stand-in father to the sexy single mom's four angelic newborns.
Mackenzie doesn't know what miracle brought Justin to Bridesmaids Creek, Texas, but she'd be a fool to fall for the hunky cowboy who wears his rebel status like a badge of honor. Justin's a natural with her daughters and a whiz at ranching…yet one day she knows he's going to gallop off into the sunset. Unless, of course, the marriage-minded townspeople get their hands on him!
Now enjoy an excerpt:
Justin leaned against a post, crossed his arms. “Why are you so interested in Mackenzie’s welfare?”
“It’s not just her. It’s you, too. And Bridesmaids Creek, if you really want to know.”
“You’re trying to bring men into Bridesmaids Creek.” Justin shook his head. “They have a matchmaker here, you know. Aren’t you kind of bumping the competition?”
“Just giving the matchmaker some material to work with.”
“Why?” Justin’s curiosity was getting the best of him.
“You’d had to have grown up here to understand.” Ty shrugged. “The Haunted H was a great draw. Lots of jobs were lost when the Hawthornes had to close it down.”
“That’s what this is all about? Bringing jobs back to your hometown?”
“Not exactly.” Ty wouldn’t meet his gaze.
“Oh, I get it.” Justin thought he suddenly saw into the cracks of his buddy’s mercurial brain. “You’re trying to find a man for Mackenzie.”
Ty shrugged. “It’s complicated.”
“Not that complicated.” Justin snorted. “When did you decide to play guardian angel to Mackenzie?”
“Since I was the guy with the not-too-swift idea of setting her up with her ex. My onetime good buddy, who turned out to be a weasel of epic proportions.”
Justin stared at his friend. “Have you ever considered that maybe Mackenzie doesn’t want another husband?”
Ty snorted. “Don’t be silly. She’s a woman. A woman needs a husband to feel complete.”
“I’m not sure I ever saw this chauvinistic side of you before.”
“Yes, you did. You just didn’t recognize it, because you and I were thinking alike.” Ty laughed. “Don’t worry, good buddy. I’m not including you in my plan. Just the opposite. I’m clearing you out to make room for some cowboys who don’t wear the rebel badge as enthusiastically as you do.”
If being a hard-baked bachelor earned him that honor, he supposed he’d go with the rebel badge of honor. “And that’s why I’m being dragged on a recruiting tour? You want me out of the way so your matchmaking has a better chance of succeeding?”
“Look. The idea came to me after I’d sent you here.” Ty looked at him patiently. “I realized that Mackenzie didn’t just need help bringing back the old place—she needs a husband and a father to those children. I’m the man who fixed her up with the loser, so I’m going to put it right.”
“Why don’t you just put your own neck into the marriage noose and save everybody some agony if you feel so guilt-ridden?” Ty put up his hands as if to ward off the very idea. “My conscience is guilty but not stupid.”
Justin stared at his friend. It was true. Ty wasn’t husband material.
Neither was he.
Justin sighed heavily. “I think you’re nuts. But whatever. It’s not my town. Nor are these my friends.”
Ty brightened. “So you’ll do it? The lead stallion agrees to head off and leave the pen to the lesser junior stallions?”
“You make it sound like Mackenzie’s ever looked my way twice in a romantic way, which I can assure you she hasn’t. We haven’t spoken that much since I’ve been here.”
“Call it a hunch. Clearing out the pen, as they say. The ladies always want the one they can’t have. Mysterious types seem romantic. Like Zorro.”
Justin shrugged. “I think you took one too many falls off the mechanical bull, Ty, but whatever. I’ll go with you,” he said, “but you better hope Mackenzie never finds out what you’re up to. I have the feeling that little lady doesn’t think she needs any man to rescue her.”
“Mechanical bull! I was no dime-store cowboy,” Ty said, following Justin as he headed back to work. Justin couldn’t stand around examining the holes in his friend’s head any longer. Mackenzie hadn’t given one signal that she might be interested in him in more than a foreman–boss lady relationship.
Still, he had a slightly uneasy feeling about leaving her to the romancing of the Three Dating Daddies—a thought that totally brought him up short.
That’s what one of those men might become: a dad to Mackenzie’s four little girls.
Maybe the most troubling thought of all.
We are thrilled to celebrate the Release Day Launch of K.A. Tucker's FIVE WAYS TO FALL!! FIVE WAYS TO FALL is the fourth novel in her Ten Tiny Breaths Series, published by Atria Books an imprint of Simon & Schuster.
FWTF final cover
About FIVE WAYS TO FALL:
Purple-haired, sharp-tongued Reese MacKay knows all about making the wrong choice; she’s made plenty of them in her twenty-odd-years. So when her impulsive, short-lived marriage ends in heartbreak, she decides it’s time for a change. She moves to Miami with the intention of hitting reset on her irresponsible life, and she does quite well…aside from an epically humiliating one-night stand in Cancun with a hot blond bouncer named Ben. Thank God she can get on a plane and leave that mistake behind her.
Football scholarship and frat parties with hot chicks? Part of charmer Ben Morris’s plan. Blown knee that kills any hope of a professional football career? So not part of the plan. Luckily Ben has brains to go with his knockout looks and magnetism. After three long years of balancing law school with his job as a bouncer at Penny’s Palace, he’s ready to lead a more mature life—until his first day of work, when he finds himself in the office of that crazy, hot chick he met in Cancun. The one he hasn’t stopped thinking about.
If Ben truly were a smart guy, he’d stay clear of Reese. She’s the boss’s stepdaughter and it’s been made very clear that office romances are grounds for dismissal. Plus, rumor has it she’s trouble. The only problem is, he likes trouble, especially when it’s so good-looking…
EXCERPT:
Ben
I love the angry ones.
Of course, anyone who knows me would argue that I love any and all women, and I can’t exactly disagree. But I love the angry ones the most. They’re a challenge to be conquered, the reason for their fury usually fitting neatly into three buckets: insecure, scorned, hormonal.
And this chick gazing up at me with fire in her caramel eyes?
I’m betting on bucket number two.
“My, what an awfully bright red shirt you have on,” she pushes out between gritted teeth, as if she’s trying to be polite but can’t hide her disdain.
I didn’t know what I was walking into when the punk-rock chick with the crazy-ass muscular body waved us over, but her friend with the purple hair and her back to me had me intrigued. Now that I’m getting a good look at her face, I know who I’m spending my last night with in Cancún. She’s not what some would call traditionally “pretty.” Her eyes are slightly too big and far apart, her nose is slightly too long and slender, and her lips—though nice and wide—are on the thin side. Yet something about all of that put together makes her sexy as hell. Maybe it’s the little nose ring. Or maybe it’s the way her decent-sized tits are pressing up against me, her low V-neck tank top—a casual shirt, telling me she’s not trying to pick anyone up—giving me a fine view of her cleavage. Whatever it is, my dick is certainly pleased. “You like it?” I ask.
An irritated glare flickers to the material. “No.”
I can’t help but chuckle at her candor. “Will you at least give me a head start before you gore me?”
Those thin lip curls into a condescending smirk. “Bulls don’t see color. That’s a myth.”
The only thing I love more than an angry girl is a smart, angry girl.
This is going to be fun.
“Well, how about I solve the problem for you.” I take a step back from her and swiftly yank my shirt off, exposing six days of suntanned skin and an upper body that I know looks damn appealing because I work my ass off to keep it that way. The random catcalls from the tables around confirm it.
And then I simply stand there and grin like the cocky ass that I am as Angry Girl can’t keep her eyes from scanning the muscles I’ve honed since my college football days, her lips parting ever so subtly. I see the shift in her, the moment where she realizes that, though she’d prefer to castrate the entire male species right now, she can’t ignore her attraction to me.
At least, that’s what I want to see.
'The King's Chronicles' by Mark Blackard
UNHAPPY WITH YOUR MARRIAGE?
CONTEMPLATING DIVORCE?
MARRIED TO A BITCH?
NO SEX LIFE AT HOME?
READY FOR A CHANGE?
The King’s Chronicles: how to escape the wrath of American women and live like a king
Discover the philosophy of Kingdom Rule and how the author and a few dedicated followers live their lives as kings. It all began with an epiphany and a disdain for the way men are treated by American women. If you’re ready to get rid of that ungrateful, lazy bitch you’re married to, along with her sense of entitlement, then read on.
The No-Bullshit Divorce Handbook for American Men
PREFACE
and words of caution
Most of this book was written while I was under the influence of rum—plain and simple. Realize that up front. If it wasn’t rum, it was beer or occasionally Jack Daniel’s whiskey. The majority of the words were typed out on my laptop as I sat in some sleazy bar in the back alleys of Southeast Asia or the Philippines. With less than reputable women simultaneously rubbing my back and feeding me mangoes, it’s the perfect environment to be creative, I can assure you.
Therefore, some of the grammar and sentence structure might not be in line with what you would consider good literary prose. The tone is colloquial because that’s the only way I know how to write and talk. If you’re searching for pure literary genius, you’ve definitely got the wrong book. I suggest Hemingway, instead.
For my female friends in America: I realize you may disown me after reading this text. I am prepared for that. However, the culture has to be challenged. If the shoe fits, wear it. If it doesn’t, just enjoy the stories.
With those disclaimers out of the way, let me get to some more important information about this work of art. This book contains graphic and profane language, detailed references to sex, pornography, fornication, drunkenness, adultery, and what most conservatives consider overall bad behavior. Reader discretion is strongly advised. In other words, you don’t want your daughter reading this book. If you have a son, buy two copies and have him memorize the words.
http://amzn.to/1lLuilx
My name is Mark Blackard but everyone outside of the United States calls me Marcos. I like to travel, drink beer, chase women, write, and do charity work.
I just published my second book called The King’s Chronicles: how to escape the wrath of American women and live like a king. It’s my philosophy on how to deal with the vixens in the U.S. and their evil ways. How in the hell did I come up with the genius contained within the text? Well first of all, I wrote the book while drunk on rum. For some reason, rum inspires my creative side. Also, I’ve got three divorces to my credit and more ex-girlfriends than I can count. I learned all of my lessons about American women the hard way.
A few friends and I decided to publish some of our experiences so that the younger generation of American men can learn from our mistakes. I wrote the book for my fellow man but women can benefit from the philosophy as well. No, I don’t have all the answers but the book will invoke thought.
