Book Description:

For Sergeant Severins Bouvier, silence means tactical planning and a large death toll, and he can’t shake how danger threatens him on the beaches of Miami, especially after seeing one of his associates in a local sandwich shop. Worse, the enemy seems fascinated with the woman he can’t stop thinking about—a woman determined not to trust him.

Everything about Sev crashes through Kaia’s carefully placed boundaries, traps, and avoidances. Regardless of her lack of interest in the majority of men, the ones that did catch her off guard left a lot of collateral damage. Who better than a soldier to understand that?

The problem is that she trusts him. Just not with her heart.

Read an excerpt from Chapter 24

“Something feels different about this place,” she said, voice soft but spreading across the grounds like an earthquake.

“It’s protected. That’s what you feel.”
A short, frail-looking male swung open his front door and appeared on the square wooden porch. His skin marbled like the bark of an old oak with tints of green. Long and wide eyes assessed Severins and Kaia before his gaze slashed to Kaia’s vampire friend, Kalib. The performance was rather dramatic.
“You said one—a single, human female. Human. That is not human.” The dryad’s twig-finger pointed to Severins with further flair.
“We were lacking in our information. The wolf is no harm to you.”
“No harm. No harm!” His hair sprouted green and miniature ivy fell around his ears. “At best, he’ll piss on my plants. At worst.” The small man’s voice squabbled high and fluttered through the leaves above. “At worst!”

Kalib rolled his eyes, and Severins shook his head. Kaia, however, seem entranced with the dryad’s tirade.
“Eilon. Fucking wood nymphs. Eilon.”
“Oh no, sir. You can stay in your pretty little metal box for that.” Eilon slammed his door again in a giant huff.
Kaia jerked and came back to the small clearing. Her eyes took on a darker green in these woods. “He did not like either of you very much.”
“Tree-folk aren’t group friendly unless there’s a ceremony or an orgy, although they’re practically the same thing to them.” Kalib pulled two long swords from behind his seat—long enough they shouldn’t have fit back there. He strapped them into holsters hidden beneath his loose cotton shirt. “I’ll take first watch.”
“Dryad’s don’t like wolves too much—territorial and all that. Piss in the wrong part of the woods once, and it’s like you killed their elder.”
“Did you tinkle on one of his plants?”
Severins snorted in delight at hearing the word tinkle come out of her mouth. “No, I’m house-trained, beautiful.”
Her giggle lightened up the small dark place, dancing along the trees as though they responded to her presence. She certainly possessed some tie to the magickal world. It explained why she attracted so much paranormal attention—his included.
Kalib hollered through the door at the little man, and Severins leaned Kaia against the side of the sports car.

“Before we go in there with that dry, old lump, give me a kiss.” He leaned into her, moving in at seventy-percent and leaving her the other thirty to come to him, but her hands dipped across his chest and stomach as she examined his different tattoos. Her touch stirred his raw need for her.
After a few seconds, she lifted and closed the gap between them.

Opening to him, her responses changed, shifting since their kiss in Wayne’s truck. He took advantage, pressing her closer and stealing her breath.
She drew back with a smile. “I think I’m beginning to like this lifestyle.”
Her nails scraped down his flanks, and he fought his own arousal. Severins pressed into her before backing away, slinging a shirt on to cover himself before following her inside.
The dryad jumped into the room from the kitchen, waving at them. “No, no, no. Shoes off!” Eilon skidded to a stop with his hands out.
“You. Before you enter here, you will make my pledge.”
The ends of Eilon’s knobby fingers grew sharp, and Severins surrendered. “What kind of pledge are we talking about?”
“You repeat after me. I pledge not to piss on any of Eilon Broaddock’s indoor plants.” The little man paused and snapped at him. “Repeat it.”
“I pledge not to piss on any of Eilon Broaddock’s indoor plants.”
“I pledge not to scratch, bite, or chew on any of Elion Broaddock’s precious house items.”
“I promise not to destroy your home. I may be a wolf, but I am also a gentleman.”
“Repeat as I said.” Eilon’s sharp fingers extended further.
Severins sighed. Threatening a wolf with wood wasn’t the fae’s smartest move, but he repeated the pledge instead of provoking his host further. The restraint took enormous effort because the little drama queen was asking for it.
Eilon stepped back and nodded, handing him a towel and returning to his kitchen. “And wolf will not sully Miss Red.”
“You’re venturing outside your jurisdiction, there, Oak Broad Oak.”
The vines of his hair tangled and retreated to a brilliant golden brown. “My stuffed radish. You have your own red, and you’re not to touch Miss Red if yours turns you down. She’s my bed guest, and I will not have her sullied.”

Eilon disappeared into the kitchen, and Severins’ spine whipped straight. Kaia’s face reddened, and she covered her mouth with her hand. “I like him.”

Kilted For Pleasure

BLURB:

Callan Baird used to laugh more than he frowned, but that was before his wife died. Now his life is duty, debts and a general apathy for anything else. And then Victoria Burke burst into his life. She's everything he wants to corrupt.

Victoria has two choices: agree to a grouchy, sexy Scotsman's extortion or call her boss to explain why she can't do her job. Since she's spent the last three years rebuilding her career as antique appraiser, and this one commission could make or break it, the decision is a no-brainer. Except everything about Callan is complicated.

He sees no problem turning their work relationship into a sexual one. She refuses to break her boss' no-fraternization rule. He's the one thing she wants and the one thing she can't have. He's had his one great love, and doesn't want a replacement. His heart doesn't agree, because she's everything he desires.

Callan will have to let go of his past if he wants Victoria to be in his future.

Read an excerpt:
“Douglass Baird,” she murmured.

Scotland was a small country. She could probably stand on a crowded street, throw five rocks and each time hit a Campbell. So the surname Baird could very well be commonplace, but given this whole horrible and humiliating exchange, Victoria seriously doubted it. Callan's elderly relative bore her boss' last name and that meant Callan...

If defeat had a distinctive noise, she made it in that moment of realization and really looked at the man who had turned her day to shit. The first time she'd met her boss he had intimidated the crap out of her too. His dark stare had been quite foreboding. When he spoke it was with the slightest hint of a burr, and he came across very cultured. Tristan was completely different in almost every way. He smiled often, cracked jokes and sometimes she got the hint he could charm a roomful of enraged rattlesnakes if he put his mind to it.

But Callan...He smiled with all his teeth in a predatory-like manner as though he knew every unkind thought she had had about him. “Papa Baird's my uncle. When Ian and Tristan left for America, they entrusted me to take care of their father.”

Cousins. Heat rushed into her face again. Nope. She never called any of her cousins by their first and last names. Yup. When she couldn't check in on her mother, she did ask one cousin or another to drop by. Occasionally, she'd reciprocate. So Ian, Tristan and Callan's agreement made complete sense.

She'd just agreed to take care of her boss' father. Of course that couldn't go wrong.

Watch the trailer for 'Mandy Fox' by Shirley Li

Mandy Fox is the alter ego of Amanda Delaney, the owner and president of a wildly successful video game empire. When Amanda mixes business with pleasure in the form of a dominating bodyguard, she'll have to face her darkest fantasies and her most vicious enemy.

Read an excerpt:
"Unlock your door five minutes before I get there, and wait for me in your living room on your knees. Your gaze should be down and I want you to clasp your hands together behind your back. Do you understand?"
"Yes. What should I call you while we're together tonight?" Amanda knew that asking questions was expected and acceptable in the beginning of a relationship like this. Even if they would only be playing at this for one night, there were still guidelines to follow.
"Master Brett." He practically growled. "And don't pleasure yourself before I get there."

'Bear River Bride (Mail Order Bride Romance)' by Callie Hartwood

Blurb:

Lucas is the sheriff and protector of his remote shifter community, but his title is at stake. Darren, his young deputy, has challenged his position. To secure his title, Lucas has to find a mate—fast. With few eligible shifter women in the community, Lucas joins an online service that arranges marriages. This is his best—and fastest—chance to find a mate and keep his position as protector of the community.

Julia is smart, confident, and beautifully curvy. She has spent her life focused on her career and now that she’s achieved her professional dreams, she wonders if something might be missing. She joins the online matching site to find her perfect husband and when she is matched with Lucas, she is immediately connected with him, but it is obvious he is keeping something from her.

When Lucas saw Julia, his bear claimed her for his own. He knew instantly he had found his mate, but she was human. How would his community handle him choosing a human for his mate? No other human had mated into the community, and choosing Julia would jeopardize his place as protector even more—but he can’t deny his bear, nor his desire.

Read the first chapter:

Lucas sighed and propped his black boots on his desk. The sun had long since gone down and his lonely office was illuminated only by the single lamp on his modest desk.
It had been a long day, but he couldn’t pack-up and go home quite yet. Bear River’s population was only about 2,000 and was a safe haven for the bear shifter community and their generations old secret, but being the sheriff and protector of the community had long hours. Lucas eyed the stack of paperwork on the desk beside his boots and let his head fall back against the chair in an attempt to avoid thinking about it.
Like his father before him, he had stepped into the role of alpha and kept his community safe from outside hunters and poachers. In the confines of their town, they were able to shift into their bear form and wander the river beds and piney hills in peace. However, that didn’t stop them from feuding with each other—and the daunting stack of forms on his desk proved it.
With a groan, Lucas lowered his feet and pulled the first sheet toward him. It was a file of complaint: the Strat family was filing against their neighbors for attempting to build a property on a portion of their land. Lucas resisted the urge to scoff. There were no official property lines, but each family had declared their own space. He knew why their neighbors—the Richards—were expanding and was struggling with the best way to settle the dispute. Darren Richards, and his deputy, had just gotten married and was looking to build his new family a home. It was an understandable motivation, and Lucas couldn’t deny it.
Lucas steepled his fingers under his strong, square chin and stared at the document. Perhaps he should just wait for Darren to return from his honeymoon and have him deal with it. Lucas leaned back in his chair and swiveled from side to side.
Darren was a couple years younger than his age of 36, but he had already accomplished a part of life that Lucas had long ignored. As the alpha, it had always been more important to put the needs of the community before his own; the pursuit of a family fell to the side and was forgotten. It didn’t help that there were very few shifter women in the community to choose from, and by now most of them were married off.
In fact, Darren had managed to mate with the last truly eligible shifter woman in the community. Lucas let out a sigh and rubbed his eyes. He was happy for them, he truly was.
He and Sasha had dated years ago, but he couldn’t commit to her the way a mate should. As it turned out, she belonged with Darren, not him. Lucas felt his bear paw at him and he shrugged it off. She never stirred his bear the way he assumed a mate would, but it didn’t matter much anyway.
He had chosen this life as the protector and it seemed a mate was out of the question. His bear gave a haughty huff and Lucas ignored it. He flipped through a couple more of the documents, completing what he could until his broad shoulders slumped with exhaustion. He would have to do the rest in the morning, and hopefully Darren would be back to add his assistance.
Lucas filed the forms away and switched off the desk lamp. He locked up the sheriff’s station behind him and climbed up the steep, rocky hill toward his cabin. He took a deep breath of the cool night air and felt his bear stir, wanting to run up the slope. With a shrug, and a glance at the empty street behind him, Lucas stripped himself of his uniform and changed into his bear. He gathered his uniform in his jaws and climbed the rest of the way home, his brown fur ruffling in the gentle mountain breeze.
***
“I don’t know what Tony’s problem is. I swear, Luke, I talked to him before the wedding about building my cabin there and he was fine with it.” Darren said, shaking the complaint form in frustration. Lucas shrugged and took a sip of his coffee.
“Well, he either forgot that or changed his mind. What do you want to do?” Lucas replied, sifting through the incomplete forms from last night.
Darren ran a hand through his blond, curly hair and shook his head. He dropped the form on Lucas’s desk and leaned against his own desk parallel to it.
“I’m not sure. I should probably try talking with him again, with you as the mediator of course, and settle this man to man.” Darren said. Lucas nodded and filed the form he had completed.
“That sounds good. I’ll set up a meeting on neutral grounds to work this through.” Lucas said. Darren nodded wordlessly.
After a few moments, Darren pushed himself off his desk and maneuvered to the growing stack of unfinished work, taking half the pile to finish off. He dropped the papers on his desk and paused, glancing uncertainly at Lucas. Lucas could sense that Darren had something more on his mind, but kept his brown eyes turned down and continued to work. Taking a deep breath, Darren found the courage to speak what was plaguing his mind.
“Aren’t you going to ask about the wedding?” He asked. Lucas paused, setting his pen down on his desk. Honestly, it hadn’t occurred to him. A wedding was a wedding, weren’t they all the same? He gave a nod and leaned back in his chair.
“How was the wedding?” He asked, trying to make his tone sound like he cared. It wasn’t that he didn’t care about Darren or his happiness, but he just didn’t see the big deal with weddings. The mating ritual between shifters was a very private affair, and he saw no need to create a public event to celebrate that intimate connection. Darren eyed him coolly, detecting that the question was forced.
“It was wonderful. Both of our families were there and most of the community showed up. It was great to celebrate that significant moment with everyone.” Darren said, his tone flat and a little sad. Lucas felt a pang of guilt and pursed his lips, unsure how to continue.
“I’m sorry that I couldn’t make it. Gillian’s cubs had wandered off and she needed help finding them.” Lucas said, hoping his excuse was acceptable. It was the truth, but the other truth was that if he had tried he probably still could have attended. Darren nodded, his green eyes downcast.
“I really am sorry, I’m just not very good with the whole wedding thing.” Lucas added. Darren’s eyes shot to his and a slight flush rose to his cheeks.
“Don’t you think it’s important for the alpha to understand family?” Darren finally said. Lucas was taken aback.
“Well of course! I do understand family, this whole community is my family and I do whatever I can to keep them safe.” Lucas defended. Darren nodded curtly again, walking around his desk and taking his seat.
“Yes, but that’s not the same. Having your own family to protect makes you understand what you’re protecting. I just think the alpha should have that understanding.” Darren said, not breaking eye contact from Lucas. Lucas frowned, picking up on the unspoken implication in Darren’s words.
“Are you saying I am unfit to lead this community?” Lucas asked. There was a long pause where neither of them spoke, both knowing that Darren’s response would either alter the conditions of their relationship drastically, or be brushed off as anger and disappointment.
“Perhaps, it would be better if someone who understood community and family more was the alpha instead.” Darren finally said after a long pause. Lucas pursed his lips and stared at Darren, analyzing the younger man’s determined and defiant gaze.
“Alright,” Lucas started, leaning forward, “I will find a mate, and all this ‘unfit’ talk is over. Agreed?” He said, accepting the challenge. It was gutsy for Darren to challenge the alpha for dominance, that hadn’t happened in the community since before his grandfather.
His family had the sword duty and obligation to this town, and Lucas was damned if he would be the one to end the reign. Darren nodded and stood up, walking over to stand in front of Lucas. Lucas slowly stood up, stretching to his full height of 6’4” and met Darren at eye-level.
“And if you don’t find a mate by the end of the month?” Darren asked, negotiating the terms of the challenge.
“If I don’t find a mate by the end of the month, we will settle this challenge the traditional way.” Lucas said, holding out his right hand. Darren grasped his hand and gave a firm shake, wordlessly agreeing to the terms. It was settled, Lucas would have to find himself a mate— and fast— if he was to hold on to his title.

Read an excerpt:
After about half an hour I suddenly feel my skin prickle and the hairs on my arms stand on end and I know that Mason has walked in, I try not to look around but can't stop myself and although I can’t see him yet I get the feeling he knows I’m here. How can my body react to somebody like this? I don't even know him, but hell my skin feels like it's singing out to him.
"Maddie, they're here." I whisper.

"Where? I can't see them." Her eyes roam around the room.

Suddenly Lake's voice penetrates and I hear him telling her to be nice to me. Fuck that! I get up and stride up to the bar not noticing anyone around me staring and being 6' 5" people always clear a path for me. Waiting to be served I feel her hand on my arm and I before I can stop myself I turn to her and kiss her hard.
Kissing her is like nothing I've ever experienced before, it feels like sparks are flying all around me, I run my tongue over her bottom lip asking for entrance and as she sighs her mouth opens and I stroke my tongue into her mouth finding her own. As they start to dance slowly with each other her hands creep up to my chest and clutch the fabric of my shirt pulling me hard against her. I start to nip her lower lip between my teeth and a groan builds up in my chest until it's bursting from my mouth into hers. With my hands still in her hair I start to pull away as I suddenly remember where we are.

"I love you too Mason but I don't love me, hell I don't even like myself anymore. I need time find me again. He took the last piece of me in that room! He forced the last piece of self-respect I had when I knew you were able to watch what he was doing to me. I've tried to move on from him, I reinvented myself and found you in the process, and shit Mason I love you so damn much but I can't be with you right now." Looking up at me I can see that the fire has left her brilliant eyes and have turned them blank and empty.

“What a touching story of someone broken, "rising up" and becoming the beautiful, loved woman she truly was! ” Melissa J. Johnson
“Such an intense background, with so much love through it all…This is such an amazing book! Definitely a must read! I hope there is more!” Damaris Zepeda

About the author:

I live quietly in a small village in South Lincolnshire with my husband and my dog. But after being forced to stop work due to chronic illness I became a couch potato when I discovered Kindle!!

I started writing as a way of keeping my other half happy after the constant Kindle downloads that were depleting our bank account

Rising Up started as a hobby with it being written on a laptop perched on my knee, my iPod playing constantly in the background. It is still playing constantly and at many times certain songs became a muse for the writing. This is why there is a play list at the end of the story.

As the characters developed I knew they had their own stories to tell so the series idea began to form, and the Finding Me series evolved. Each story leading the main character to develop and find themselves. Book two My Turn is ready to go to the editor now.

Read an excerpt:
I don’t know what changed in him, but there was no mistaking the urgency of his reaction. He threw his arms around me and pulled me in close to his body. I felt the muscles of his chest ripple and flex as he pressed himself against me.
He reached up and held my face in his hands, finally looking into my eyes. I never noticed how beautiful they were. A deep, rich brown, lined with a brilliant golden ring that seemed so familiar. I was mesmerized.
My heart raced as his warm breath hit my cheek, and I felt the wetness pooling between my legs. I wanted him to throw me down on the kitchen table, tearing my blouse from my body as his hands consumed my body with the passion that I felt in him, ready to burst from the seams of his tightening jeans.
I closed my eyes and leaned in towards him, inviting the kiss. Please, can’t you see that I want you? I need this. You need this. I’m yours.

Join Jason on his quest to confront his own sexuality. Be My Hero is a gripping tale of friendship, love, blurred boundaries, and comic book conventions!

It´s not the gender that matters, but the person.

A comic book fan turns straight to gay in this romantic gay short read.

Read an excerpt:
They walked over to Caleb’s car and drove over to the convention center. The two of them were excited, and Jason could feel the tensions start to dissipate immediately.
When they got there, Caleb got out of the car. Jason put his mask on and got into a sort of crouching position. Caleb chuckled at the sight.
“You are a really good Spider-Man. I like this,” he said.
Jason smiled through the mask. The two of them walked inside, and after they got their tickets, they roamed around the convention floor. Jason liked this a whole lot, and he thought that it was cool dressing up and making people happy. Apparently, he was really good too, because they kept getting stopped for pictures and many kids loved the way that they looked.
Jason and Caleb went to check out the merchandise. They each bought a couple of superhero shirts, and Jason also got this cool Iron man water bottle. Jason looked around at the other stuff.
“What are you looking at?” Caleb asked.
“Oh, just this statue. I would love to get it, but it’s expensive as hell, and I’m shocked it’s even here,” he said.
Caleb took a look at the tag. It was a couple hundred dollars, but Jason knew that it would probably be the last of his spending money.
“I’ll get it for you,” Caleb said.
Jason was confused; why was this guy doing that. Caleb did so, giving the statue to Jason.
“Why did you do that?” Jason asked.
“Cause you wanted it, and I wanted to be a good friend to you. I’m so happy you came out here with me. I feel like you do care,” Caleb replied.
Jason blushed at those words. He never thought he would end up making someone happy being here. He honestly felt at ease when he was around Caleb, and in a way, he felt more calm and collected than he ever did before.
The rest of the con was amazing. Jason and Caleb both met new people, they talked to other fans, and overall Jason felt like he could finally come out to people and have a great conversation with them. It was amazing as well to connect so well with Caleb. It was like they were almost the same. Jason didn’t get why, but he felt something stronger for this man than he had ever felt for anyone before. It was strange, but in a way he liked it.
The con went on for a couple more hours, but it was evening time and they wanted to get home. Jason and Caleb got into Caleb’s car, the tensions dissipated and the happiness present. Still, Jason could tell there was something Caleb wanted to say. Although it was pretty calm right now, he knew something was wrong.
When they pulled up to Jason’s house, Jason turned to Caleb and smiled. He pulled his mask off to look at the other man.
“I had a great time,” Caleb said.
“Same here. Thanks for inviting me,” Jason replied.
“No problem,” Caleb said.
The silence was present between them, but after a moment, Jason felt something strange against his body.
A pair of soft lips were on his own. Jason got nervous, moving around a tiny bit, but for some reason this felt almost…natural in a way. Jason didn’t get it. He thought he liked girls, but apparently when he kissed this man, something confused his body and made him continue to kiss Caleb.
After a moment, Caleb pulled away, smiling at Jason. Jason was blushing, unable to say a word. After a moment, he spoke.
“I… I’ll see you Monday,” Jason said. Jason walked out of the car and to his house, dazed and confused. What did Caleb think of him? And what did this all mean? He needed answers, and he needed them fast.
