Description:
When greedy land
developers set their sights on Dark Sentinel land, Torin turns to
attorney Stephanie Bates for help, but she’ll need his protection
to stay alive long enough to save his land.
Real estate lawyer,
Stephanie Bates, has risen to the top of her field through meticulous
sacrifice and goal setting. She has no time for distractions – and
that includes pets, messy relationships, and loose ends.
Torin DuMont is a
forensic scientist who chose the profession to avoid dealing with
people as much as possible. Raised by a stepfather who hated him,
he’s been forced to live a life of solitude, fueled by anger and
distrust. When wolves and shifters start turning up dead, Torin must
battle an enemy bent on destroying those he was born to protect. His
greatest challenge, however, is Attorney Bates and the surprising
affect she has on his heart.
Warning: This title is
intended for readers over the age of 18 as it contains explicit sex
scenes and/or situations and adult language, and may be considered
offensive to some readers.
Meet the “Dark Sentinels.” Weary of shedding tears over the senseless murders of her children, thoughtless abuse of her resources, and blatant disrespect for her authority, she had to take drastic measures. Mother Nature created sentinels to protect and preserve nature, their first priority to stand vigil against those responsible for the destruction of wildlife. Two sentinel wolf-shifters are born to each pack – male and female. Larger, stronger, and faster than other shifters, and able to shift at will, regardless of the moon’s phases, they risk their lives daily to restore balance between man and nature. Unfortunately, their very strengths have gained the attention of arrogant beings bent on exploiting their abilities for selfish gain.Forced to leave their packs for a time to find mates, the sentinels are no longer able to avoid human contact. Dr. Sable Adler, of “Dark Sentinels Book One: Sable,” alpha of the Washington pack, one of the largest packs in the United States, was the first sentinel to fall in love with a human female. He’s a calm-natured Libra, while Torin DuMont, of “Dark Sentinels Book Two: Torin,” is a hot-headed, bad-tempered Scorpio alpha who resides in the Florida Everglades.Like Sable before him, Torin is about to find himself in uncharted territory when he seeks the legal counsel of Stephanie Bates, an uppity human lawyer who needs his help more than he needs hers…She pushed his T-shirt up further, sliding her fingers down the center of his torso, toward the waist of his jeans. She wanted to shout in exultation when Torin lifted his arms to whisk the T-shirt over his head.Torin stilled her hands, clasping them between his larger ones until she tilted her head to look up at him.Noticing the blood was on his T-shirt but not on his body, Steph erased it from her mind as quickly as Torin had removed his shirt. The blood wasn’t his. The complete quiet, the stillness of the room, with only her heart beating in her ears in anticipation of feeling more of him made her hot. Sweat trickled down her back and between her breasts as their eyes met, his body giving off heat like a furnace. His stormy, gray eyes were roiling, molten clouds as he gazed at her, searching. She saw his jaw clench before he spoke, his raspy voice zinging straight to her hot, wet core.“I’m not what you’re used to. I don’t want to hurt you.”Unable to think, she heard herself say, “I don’t want what I’m used to.” Please.Torin released her hands, and she curled her fingers around the waist of his jeans, glancing up at him again, questioning. He was the kind of man who insisted on taking the lead. That much she’d realized the minute she met him, but in that tense moment, he seemed to need her encouragement.Steph shook her head, still gazing into his eyes. “The only way you’ll hurt me is if you walk away.” Then she gasped when Torin bent slightly, wrapping one solid arm around her trembling thighs and the other around her back. Before she could catch her breath, her breasts were flush against his hard chest, and his generous lips covered her open mouth, stealing what little breath she had left as warm cinnamon and spice converged on her taste buds.Torin’s tongue swept into her mouth, exploring, commanding her body to comply. She did, relaxing against him, her heart rate melding into the same rhythm as his as she gripped his muscular shoulders with her nails and wrapped her legs around his waist, holding on for dear life. More desperate for the taste of him than air to breathe, she felt Mount V preparing to erupt in orgasm from his kiss alone. Finally able to take a breath, Steph leaned back enough in his arms to glide her right hand between their bodies and down his chest as his hand supported her back. She was enthralled by the feel of him, fiery and hard, yet his skin gave beneath her fingertips. She’d wanted to touch him for so long, to feel his touch on her body. She tightened her thighs around his waist and used them to scoot higher along his torso, climbing just like she’d envisioned, then leaned in, hugging him to her, and wrapped her arms around his neck to touch his hair—that thick, unruly, luxurious hair.Torin reached back with one hand and pried her hands from him. She nearly fought to hold on. Her stomach was plummeting, and she was terrified that he wanted to stop, but he entwined their fingers, then slid his hand along her arm, electrical currents sparking in his wake as he placed her hands on his chest again, his large muscles vibrating under her fingertips.
Reviews:
5/5 Stars“…This was every bit as wonderful as the first, romance, sex and the constant presence of evil. Will Torin and Steph find what Akila and Sable have? Is there hope of a mating between a sentinel and a human? Are they compatible enough to have children together? Well, I can’t wait for the next book so I can get some more answers and meet another hunky alpha and another amazing potential mate.”--Linda Tonis (Read complete review at Paranormal Romance Guild)5/5 Stars“Torin DuMont is larger than life, and commands attention from the first moment we meet him. He's brash and very much an alpha male. Stephanie Bates is a hard-butt Real Estate Attorney, with some issues of her own to work out. From their first meeting these two bring out the best, and worst in each other. Their exciting adventure is full of many unexpected twists. The book will grab your attention and run away with it. Dariel Raye certainly knows how to keep the pages turning. A little over descriptive at times, but that only adds to her unique writing style. Overall Torin is a wonderful addition to the Dark Sentinel Series. Readers who enjoyed the first one {Sable}, will be blown away by this sequel. Well done, Dariel.--Catrina Barton, Amazon Reivewer“Loved this book, a lot of my questions were answered in this book. The first book was good but left me frustrated with so many questions. I'm looking forward to the third book in this series. I think this story will only get better with each book!”--AlabamaGirl, Amazon Reviewer
