Please welcome author Charity Parkerson to Books to Light Your Fire, as we celebrate the release of her book 'The Sexy and the Undead.' Be sure to leave her a question or comment below!
I entered a writing contest and the rules specified that it had to be about zombies. I’d never written anything zombie related but after reading all the rules, I felt as if it was something that I could make fun. Afterwards, I thought, “I can make this into a book.”
Which character spoke to you the most?
Definitely Tam the Pixie. She’s outrageous and outspoken. She was so much fun to write about.
This is the first book in the series. How many more do you anticipate and when can we expect the next installment?
There’s a total of 5 stories.
Each title is already available. (Click on a title to read more about it on Amazon.)
What is the draw about the paranormal for you?
I love the idea of a world that exists beyond what’s considered normal. It’s so much fun creating your own world and deciding the rules.
Please tell us about your other published works.
I have over 30 titles available, but I’m best known for my vampire/paranormal “Sinners” series, two of which have made Finalist in the Australian Romance Readers’ Awards and The Readers’ Favorite Awards for favorite paranormal romance.
"Evil lives in the dark. We instinctively know this as children."
Nestled high in the mountains...
The quiet community of Jackson Station is where everyone knows your name and...species?
Vampires have existed since almost the beginning of time, but not in the way we have been led to believe. These were not men cursed by the devil but warriors blessed by God to have great strength, agility, and eternal life.
Eternal life came at a price, the price of human blood. Some chose to live within their own society; The Society of Sinners.
On what other projects are you currently working?
I’m currently working on a horror erotica with author Regina Puckett for Ellora’s Cave “Shivers” line.
You have had numerous Amazon bestsellers. What is your recipe for success?
Desperation, lol. I’m not sure there is a recipe. I work close to 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a hard job that is not for the faint of heart, but I cannot imagine ever doing anything else.
Please tell us more about the Melissa Craig and Charity Parkerson Show.
We are two authors who work to bring recognition to the arts. We love books, music, and movies. There are a ton of people out there who deserve way more attention for their work than they receive. We do weekly interviews with different artist. We’ve been very lucky in snagging some amazing interviews such as an award-winning movie director, a former WWE star, and a few New York Times bestselling authors. We keep it fun and have an explicit rating on itunes, but it’s always something new.
What is something readers may be surprised to learn about you?
I’m a nerd at heart. I love learning new things and the research that goes into my work is one the most enjoyable parts for me.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you so much for having me and if anyone would like to know more about my work please visit my website www.charityparkerson.comThank you so much for your time!
