Blurb:
Business owner Mac MacKinnon is a perfect catch: attractive, ambitious and successful. He's a member of an old, established pride of lion shapeshifters, but determined to live life as a loner. Except that when Zora Mason walks into Mac's coffee bar one day and applies for the position of assistant manager, he knows without a doubt he's met the woman of his dreams.
Can she accept life with a shifter-boyfriend?
Zora knows a lot more about Mac (and the other shifters in town) than she's been letting on. Falling in love with a sexy shifter is more than she bargained for when it comes to dealing with sibling drama, learning the business, and managing an alpha male who's used to doing things his way. When a challenge to Mac's Pride threatens to destroy Mac's family, Zora has to decide whether to be claimed as his mate in a ritual in front of the pride.
Who knew that love with a lion shifter would be so challenging?
Read an excerpt:
Ellen rushed towards him, her arms outstretched. "Mac, I'm so glad to see you." She gathered him into her embrace and hugged him tight.
"Why didn't Dad call me, Mom? Donny just told me about El-don's challenge." Mac breathed in his mother's perfume. It was sweet and flowery, just like she always wore.
"Mac, please don't be mad with him," she said. "He feels he has to be the one to stand up to Eldon. He's the leader and he can't show fear." She released him, but kept her hand resting on his shoulder. "Your father is stubborn and thinks he's still twenty in-stead of sixty. With his bad knees and his gout, he's not in any condition to keep up with these young lions."
"I know he's got to look strong, but this is dangerous. He can't fight Eldon."
"He never expected to have to fight a challenge at all," Ellen said, not hiding her annoyance.
"Your father never agreed with the old ways and all the feuds and challenges that tore the older prides apart. He never wanted this."
"Mom, why is Matthew going along with Eldon's challenge? He's Dad's friend," Mac said.
"Matthew has no control over that son of his," Ellen snorted. "Our pride is the largest one in this part of the country. The Durant pride is losing members and it's not worth challenging his father for control of it. This is Eldon's chance to get a bigger prize."
So, Eldon figured it would be easy to win this challenge and claim the MacKinnon pride for his own. But seeing what a punk he was, Mac was surprised he had the nerve.
