***** funny and heartbreaking love story
By Abigail Van Nuyson
I don't think I've ever read a more entertaining, funny and heartbreaking love story. This is unlike any romance story you have ever read before and the pace is so fast and entertaining that once I started, I had to finish--and even my boyfriend enjoyed it as much as I did! The first half of the story is about Nick, a grad student who is seduced into loving and marrying a rich coed, but is crushed by what happens a year later. Alone and nearly broke, he remembers the words of his football coach, "It's not how many times you get knocked down, it's how many times you get up!" and by sheer luck he closes his first big deal on his way to becoming a very rich, but terribly lonely man. Then Hurricane Sandy strikes and again by sheer luck he is in the right place at the right time to save the life of Laney, a little girl who is trapped under the wreckage of her house. Alone, and feeling that he is somehow responsible for this little girl, who has also lost her mother, he invites Laney and her new mother, Tess into his home and the rest of the summer is a rollercoaster of laughs, love and fun--until the very ending, which I never saw coming and I guarantee will leave you in tears.
