by Kelly Gendron

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Colden Saint James, Dusty Owens, and a single night of passion had equaled to poor old Mr. McAllister’s broken fence. Add six years, a troublemaking photo, and there’s not a fence in Texas that’s gonna be safe.
Dusty Owens always had a way of making every single one of Colden’s man parts go all hard. He’d been so close to falling for the girl before he’d left Odessa. Now, due to a troublemaking photo, Colden must return to his hometown to keep her safe. Trouble is, he’s a different man—not to mention the change. Dusty Owens always had a way of making every single one of Colden’s man parts go all hard. He’d been so close to falling for the girl before he’d left Odessa. Now, due to a troublemaking photo, Colden must return to his hometown to keep her safe. Trouble is, he’s a different man— not to mention the change. Well, it’s gonna cause all kinds of problems where Dusty Owens and all of his man parts are concerned.
Read an excerpt:
“Just admit it. You want me.” A crooked grin tugged on his lip.
Dusty glared at him from the corner of her eye. “Okay.” She gripped the railing and swayed back. “Yes, once I wanted you—once. But like I said, let’s not dwell on the past. I’m so over you, St. James.”
The smug son-of-a-bitch’s smile broadened. He shook his head. “I’m so not convinced, Dusty girl,” he said with sparkling, playful eyes.
“Stop calling me that!”
“What?” He arched a badly behaving eyebrow. “Girl?”
“Yes!”
“Well, you are one, aren’t you?”
“Yes, but—”
“Oh, I get it,” he rudely interrupted. “Too generic? How ‘bout I call you, uh…my pretty girl? Would you like that?”
In false protest, her nose and forehead scrunched. But she could already see it. The minute that little fawning left his sexy mouth, she’d drop to her knees, ready to give the man whatever he wanted.
“No?” He rubbed his chin and released a low, sexy, “Hmm.” A second later, he lifted an a-ha finger. “Tough girl?”
Her entire face flushed with heated anger.
He grimaced. “Don’t like that either?” His eyes hooded. “I know what kind of girl you are.”
She snorted. This oughtta be good. “Yeah? And what kind of girl am I?”
“A bad girl,” he huskily drawled. “You want to be my bad girl, don’t you?”
“No!” Oh God, yes! Who wouldn’t want to be his bad… anything? The new and improved St. James was hot, and her knees were already begging to hit the floor for him. Shake it off, bad girl. Just, shake it the hell off!
“Come over here.” An arm wrapped around her waist. “C’mon.” He dragged out the words as he dragged her up to his side. “It’s all good. You can be my bad girl anytime, Dusty Owens.” When he bent his head down, warning bells went off in her addled brain. Sissy and Jimmy could see them from where they were standing. She veered back, her hand pressing into his shoulder,
“Colden!”
“Don’t be so skittish.” His lips turned up, and his grip tightened. “Where’s that brazen girl? Where’s the girl who showed up at Rusty’s Tavern with Britt Weber, the player of all plays?” Her eyes widened. Is he really going to bring up that night?
“And after a slow, naughty bull ride performance in a very slinky white dress, I might add, that bad girl dirty danced with the scumbag.”
He even remembers my dress? God.
“Where’s that brazen girl who took a huge risk, hoping I’d come to her rescue and save her from the sleazebag?”
The night flooded into her brain, Colden pulling her out of Britt Weber’s truck. Him punching Britt, who was twelve years her senior, right in the face, and Colden chasing after her and catching up with her at old man McAllister’s fence. Crazy for him, her attempt at making Colden jealous had worked. She’d tried to keep him hot by picking a fight, but Colden hadn’t taken the bait. Without saying a word, he’d just walked up to her and kissed her hard, a kiss he didn’t break until they broke McAllister’s fence—until she’d surrendered her virtue and her heart to him.
“So? Where’s that bad girl now?” he provoked.
Dusty shook her head and told him the truth. “She grew up.” She knew it was immature to try to make Colden jealous back then. He wasn’t a kid. He was a man, and he had shown her that night just what kind of man he was, the kind she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. “Nah.” Sturdy fingers pressed into her hipbone. “I think she’s still in there. She just needs some coaxing to come out and play.” He leaned in and huskily taunted, “Come out, come out, wherever you are! Be my bad girl and admit you wanna play.”
“In your dreams, St. James. Why don’t you get over yourself? I’ve already told you that I don’t feel anything for you—not anymore,” she lied, trying to save herself.
“I don’t believe you.” His eyes wickedly twinkled with the statement.
“I don’t really care what you believe.”
“Take your panties off.”
As angry as he was making her, her body had to respond to the command, and every muscle froze. “What?”
“If they’re bone dry,” he said, tilting to the left and dropping his voice, “I’ll believe you.”
“Colden, look where we are, for God’s sake. You’re crazy if you think I’m gonna¬—”
He tilted slightly closer, his eyes dark and daring. “Take them off.”
“I-I can’t,” she mumbled, hypnotized by his captivating, intent look and even more stunned by the crazy demand.
“Why?” The corner of his mouth lifted. “Oh, right.” His smile grew bigger. “Don’t worry. I don’t mind getting my hand a little wet.”
What? Absolutely incorrigible! “You’re an ass.”
“Well, if that’s not your excuse, what is?”
“Besides the obvious, it’s a rude a request.” She smirked at him. Yeah, that’s right, buddy. Two can play at this game. “I can’t give them to you because…” She inched closer to his tempting mouth. “I’m not wearing any.” Unable to ignore the pleasure she got from seeing the astonishment light up his eyes, her smile grew too.
“Damn, girl.” He exhaled, letting out a very noticeable whistle. His hand slid slowly down her hip, as if to confirm her claim, then roamed to her backside. “Do you know what a statement like that can do to a guy?”
“Again, I don’t care.”
“Well then, let’s make you care…”
'A Song for Sophie' by Mackenzie Crowne
A Song for Sophie
by Mackenzie Crowne
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Jobless, practically homeless, and tired of being manless, Sophie Taylor jumps at the chance to be Beaumont Walker’s personal assistant. Six weeks on the road with country music’s bad boy—and, more importantly, his all-male crew—is the perfect opportunity to change her life.

Beau Walker doesn’t need any more distractions. Sophie, with her butt-ugly suits and balls-to-the-wall attitude, shouldn’t be one, but she proves to be distracting and more—even, surprisingly, a friend. So when he discovers her plan to snag a man from his worldly wise crew, he’s determined to protect her from herself.

Read an excerpt:
“Don’t you have something you’re supposed to be doing? I assume we’re paying you. Go earn your paycheck.”

“Oh, you’re paying me.” She allowed the secret smile to curl her lips in an actual one. “And I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing.”

“What’s that? Boring me to death?”

She dropped her oversized purse to the floor and took the chair next to him. It was a very comfortable recliner, and large enough that her arm didn’t reach the handle to lift the footrest. Feeling around blindly, she sat forward, and hanging half way over the arm, grasped the control. A quick tug and the footrest snapped up, and the back of the chair fell into the recline position, making her squeak.

Beau shook his head.

She tugged at the hem of her skirt to make sure it didn’t ride up, squirming until she’d settled herself. With her ankles crossed, she plopped her hands and forearms on the cushioned arms of the chair and looked at him.

“I’m keeping you busy.”

“Huh?”

“I’m keeping you busy. You asked what I was supposed to be doing. That’s what I’m supposed to be doing.”

“Well, quit it. You’re pissing me off.”

“Oh, yeah,” she drawled, “like that’s hard to do.”

“Have I fired you yet today?”

“No.”

“You’re fired.”

He really was funny when he was trying to look menacing. She laughed and held his glare. “Geez, you’re cranky.”

Read an exclusive excerpt:
She had forgotten how huge horses were. Of course it was Kertyn’s nag. Had it been hers it might not have started clopping about the yard like this. At least she might have been able to stop it when it did, so she could at least get a foot in the stirrup. Stop it baring its teeth at her If Meg hadn’t given her these bannocks perhaps. For him too, which was why she wished he wouldn’t knit his brows like that as he set his boot in his own stirrup. Lady Kara would be able to ride, wouldn’t she? As opposed to spending the morning walking up and down the yard, while he now showed every sign of departing.

Yesterday she’d stumbled at this point too. It was why her father’s men were of the opinion she’d mess this up. It was why she felt obliged to smile nicely, in the hope of seeming blasé, especially now that the nag, its head flailing wildly, nickered sideways into the wall. And now, now his hand descended on her reins, she was forced to wonder if he perhaps meant her. Would he dismount and stride through the snow to tell her that though? He might when she was as hopeless as this and it looked as if she would have to walk with the horse all the way to McDunnagh Castle, hoping it would let her on its back eventually. Humiliation scorched to her hair roots.

'Winter's Heat (Titan #1)' by Cristin Harber

Winter’s Heat

After putting her life on the line to protect classified intelligence, military psychologist Mia Kensington is on a cross-country road trip from hell with an intrusive save-the-day hero. Uninterested in his white knight act, she’d rather take her chances without the ruggedly handsome, cold-blooded operative who boasts an alpha complex and too many guns.

Colby Winters, an elite member of The Titan Group, has a single objective on his black ops mission: recover a document important to national security. It was supposed to be an easy in- and-out operation. But now, by any means necessary becomes a survival mantra when he faces off with a stunning woman he can’t leave behind.

When Titan’s safe houses are compromised, Colby stashes Mia at his home, exposing his secret—he’s the adoptive father of an orphaned baby girl. Too soon, danger arrives and Mia lands in the hands of a sadistic cartel king with a taste for torture. As hours bleed into fear- drenched days, Colby races across the globe and through a firestorm of bullets to save the woman he can’t live without.

Read an excerpt:
Setup- Colby Winters and Mia Kensington are waiting for her attackers to make another move. They’re trying to appear distracted outside a motel room, as if they let their guard down.

What was it like? Oh, man. He had a thing for her in a bad way. Winters bent his head toward her. Their foreheads kissed, and there was no question. While she was with him, she was his. His to protect. His to savor. A woman like Mia was rare. At least he had brains enough to notice. He never should’ve put her in this position. He could’ve packed her off in a plane, back toward the East Coast. Someone from Titan could’ve kept her safe while he finished his original job. But selfishness and curiosity made it so he wouldn’t push her away. He couldn’t, because an irrepressible desire consumed him, powering lust through his veins.

“Colby.” Her hushed whisper tickled his skin. “What are we going to do?”

His pulse thumped in his neck, and he tightened the forearm wrapped around her waist, melding her onto him.

I’m on the job. Serious danger ahead.

He’d missed it before and couldn’t let that happen again. No time for arousal. No time for fantasies.

Images flooded his brain, searing his senses. He remembered the taste of her tongue. Red-hot cinnamon. A sweet, delicious burn of aphrodisia.

What were they going to do? Where to begin... A million ideas popped to mind, starting with making good use of the wall behind him.

No woman had pressed against him like this, so pliable, supple, and luscious. They had always draped him like sex kittens on steroids. Those other women were as over-sexed and one- dimensional as they were obvious, all self-fulfilling prophecies, and they were the definitive opposite of Mia Kensington.

Before Mia’s hands explored him, before her beautiful body had even disrobed, she toyed with his mind like it was the first of many playgrounds. And he wanted to play so bad.

“I’ve started a list.” His lips flitted over hers. “Want me to share?”

Her eyelashes fluttered. “What kind of list?”

“I have you thirty feet from a bed. What kind of list do you—” A drunken couple stumbled out of the bar. Actually, more likely a john and a pro. He should have seen them before he heard them. “More on the list later, doll.”

Men were coming to hurt her, and his hard-on could pick another time for games.

“Okay, Mia, here’s what we’re going to do. When they pull up, act like we let loose. We had too many drinks.” He motioned to the karaoke bar with a tip of his head, then dipped his lips to her neck, lingering under her ear. “I’m convincing you to come to my room. You’re not putting up too much of a fight. Just enough to keep it fun.”

He nipped her earlobe, and she took a tiny gasp. It made his gut jump. Her taste drugged him, intoxicated him. Temptation was a cruel mistress. Giving him a little and making him wait.

“That’s your plan?”

“Not my whole plan, no. But that’s the part you have to play.” He traced the slide of her neck. “Think you can act mildly interested?”

“You’re crazy.” Her voice was husky. “Men are trying to kill us. How can you think about sex?”

“You’re not?”

“I’m… I’m—”

“You’re what? I’m getting into character. You should give it a try.”

“You’re rubbing your hard-on against me, is what you’re doing.”

“All part of my cover. Believable, huh?” Her innocent act was toast. She was far more like Jessica Rabbit than Snow White. “If I tried to drag you off to bed right this second, you wouldn’t join me?”

There was only one answer. He knew it. Felt it as sure as he felt her body mold against him. She couldn’t fight their hunger either.

Her breaths escalated. The quick rise and fall of her breasts fueled him. Winters cupped her chin in his hands, palms caressing her cheeks. Sweet Mia. If he could freeze this moment, it’d be one he’d put on repeat.

“I would,” she whispered. “But…”

“Forget everything else. It’s just you and me.” He thumbed her lips, dragging the bottom one down.

Slowly, his hands drifted into her hair. Lust hung heavy in the cool night air. Her dark lashes fluttered, and her hard nipples pressed against his chest.

How beautiful would she be naked? How would she feel? Impossibly smooth. He would whisk across her sensitive spots, watching those succulent breasts rise and fall in anticipation. He would make sure she ached for him. As much as he ached now.

His fingers tangled into her hair, and Mia leaned her head back, heavy lidded and heady breaths.

“Shouldn’t you watch for the bad guys instead of torturing me?” Her eyes were sealed shut, defenseless.

His lips grazed her neck, and she purred, the sinful sound acting as a deft stroke to his already engorged shaft.

“You don’t think I can multi-task?” He kissed behind her ear, dancing his mouth down her neck.

It was a tease. A simple promise of what was to come. When he had a moment to concentrate on her, he’d do whatever it took—lick, kiss, caress, and suck—to make her cry out for him. His fingers slid to her nape, trailing to the front of her shirt. The fabric felt fragile under his palms. He was losing a battle to a ripped shirt on a pretty girl, but revenge would be amazing.

“How can you do this,” she nudged her head down to where he nuzzled his erection, “and pay attention to anything else?”

“Can you imagine what it’s going to be like between us when I don’t have to worry about anyone but you?”

'The Sheik Retold' by Victoria Vane & E.M. Hull

The Sheik Retold

by Victoria Vane and E. M. Hull

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A haughty young heiress for whom the world is a playground…
A savage son of the Sahara who knows no law but his own…
When pride and passion vie for supremacy…
Blistering desert days are nothing compared to the sizzling Sahara nights…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Read an excerpt:
Restless, I moved about the tent, listlessly examining objects that I already knew by heart, and flirting over the pages of some French magazines. I should have been elated at his unexpected absence, yet in my perversity, I was strangely unstrung with anticipation of his return. Now the utter silence only oppressed me.

Where was Gaston? Even the servant's company would be preferable to my own. I guessed he must have gone with his master or perhaps he was long retired. I went to the flap of the tent and gazed out into the night. The camp, large and spread out was covered mostly in a blanket of blackness, broken by the occasional glimmer of a sparking fire.

I had dreamt for years of this experience, of a month spent in the desert and now here I was. I had longed for adventure. It is what I had sought, so why could I not turn this tragedy to my advantage? I had food and shelter that was far superior to any I could have provided for myself. And I was surrounded by hundreds of armed men. Whether I viewed them as my captors or my protectors was only a matter of perception—a matter of choice.

I knew I was safe. I had seen the depths of deference, the authority of the Sheik's command. Any man outside of himself who dared to touch me would suffer death. Of that I had no doubt. The only thing stopping me from enjoying my adventure in this vast oasis and my freedom in the Sheik's camp, was my own desperate desire to cling to a state of chastity I truly cared nothing about. It was only my pride that stood in the way of my pleasure, and my refusal to allow him to take it from me.

I chewed my lip as I gazed up upon the stars glimmering in the heaven like countless brilliant diamonds shimmering against a backdrop of black velvet. I wondered if in the great scheme of things, my pride was a bit over-rated.

This entire evening I had bucked with resentment against the pretense that I was a willing guest here, but had I met this same Sheik in Biskrah, in more conventional circumstances, if I had only been properly introduced, would I not have willing, even gratefully accepted an invitation to his camp? Only a week ago I would have jumped at the chance. What now prevented me from embracing that role? From enjoying that status— for as long as I had planned? I smiled to myself. Yes, it was all just a matter of perception—except for the bartering of my body— the Sheik's expectation in return for his hospitality.

My smiled dimmed.

I could enjoy my month of holiday as planned, as long as I would willing serve his needs—and all that implied— in his bed.
