Mayhem and the Marquess by Win Hollows

This one is for fans of historical romantic suspense with a bit of heat to it! Check out an excerpt from Mayhem and the Marquess by Win Hollows before you download your own copy. Be sure to let her know what you think in the comments. And follow the tour for even more fun! There's also a giveaway at the end.

Daughter of an infamous murderer, Ivy Wollard now wields knives instead of needlepoint to survive in a society where no one wants her. When the Marquess of Blackbourne comes along and ruins her chance at a better life, she decides she’d rather have her toes eaten by eels than agree to his proposed scheme. There’s no way her surrender has anything to do with the mesmerizing angle of his jawline or the wicked twinkle in his eyes.

But Asher Blackbourne has a secret. He knows it’s just a matter of time until he goes mad and loses his illustrious title, so when Ivy falls into his path, he realizes he could use her to keep his house of cards from falling down. If every illicit touch between them doesn’t drive him mad first, that is.

Yet Ivy cannot escape her grisly legacy and the dark desires of her father’s admirers. What if violence runs through her veins, and no one who gets close is safe? Mayhem will descend as this rake finally falls for the enigmatic woman who might be just his brand of poison…Er, cure, of course.

Read an excerpt:
Blackbourne came towards the clawfoot tub, running a finger along the porcelain edge.

Ivy shrank back instinctively into the steam.

He chuckled. “Don’t worry, love. I won’t bite,” he drawled, and then paused. “Yet.”

She inhaled as his eyes flashed promises of things she wasn’t sure she understood.

“Your bathwater is quite thoroughly unrevealing with all those suds. What a pity.” He sighed, pulling the nearby chair closer to the tub and lowering himself down into it. “Will you wash your hair for me?”

Ivy blinked “Right now?” she choked, reaching up to pat her hair, which she’d styled in a high chignon.

He nodded, his posture relaxed, although Ivy knew this to be deceptive. He was waiting to hear her answer with taut focus. When she didn’t move a muscle, Blackbourne interrupted her tumultuous thoughts with a soft suggestion. “Let me help you.”

The words reached out to her with tendrils that wrapped her consciousness in a sensual fog, causing the hair on her nape to rise. This was not done, she knew. A proper lady would never allow a gentleman to touch her hair, much less while she bathed. But what about any of their arrangement was proper in the first place? Who would even know?

Besides him.

So she reached up slowly so as not to disturb the water covering her chest and drew the stickpin from her hair, letting its length fall in a heavy coil down her back.

His sharp intake of breath echoed in the tiled chamber.

Was that a good thing? Ivy’s body trembled as she watched him rise and come towards her through the steam…

Island Fire by Bobbi Smith

Welcome to the book blast for Island Fire, a fiery historical romance from Bobbi Smith. Enjoy an excerpt before you download your own copy, and let Bobbi know what you think in the comments. Be sure to also follow the tour for even more, and of course, enter the great giveaway at the end!

An untouched young girl finds a gorgeous man shipwrecked and washed up onshore on a tropical island in the Pacific and they find pure ecstasy and the promise of eternal love.

Espri Duchant saves the shipwrecked shipping magnate, and when his gaze meets hers, he celebrates his good luck. Adrift at sea, he survived when all the others perished. Innocent Espri Duchant has always sworn to guard her virtue. But when she discovers the handsome stranger lying on her beach, she soon vows she will kiss his chiseled lips, feel his tender touch. Espri is eager to learn the mysteries of sensual ecstasy—and when she finally succumbs to the passion of his powerful embrace, it is as if she has led him to it. Espri takes him to a sun-drenched island cove, the perfect hideaway with the lapping water like a cool sheet against the heat of their searing island love.

HIS FIERY NEED

After being kidnapped, shanghaied, shipwrecked, and nearly drowned, Mitchell Williams sees no reason to wait for paradise—he’s already there! He will one day have to return to the helm of his profitable shipping company, but the next sailing ship will not pass by the remote Pacific island for many months. In the meantime, nothing can stop him from exulting in the sensual pleasure of this woman, her flawless flesh and natural beauty. She teases him that he will never turn to another and that no woman will ever satisfy him the way she does. Soon all he craves is her. He is enchanted by Espri’s island fire.

Read an excerpt:
The cup of rum had really helped Mitch. He could feel the sharp edge of his pain dulling beneath the liquor’s soothing onslaught. A sigh escaped him, and for the first time in months, he knew a moment of real peace.

Espri, ever sensitive to his well-being, feared something was wrong. “Are you all right?”

“I’m better than I have been in a long time.”

Espri smiled at his words. “Would you like to sit outside? The day is still young and the heat is not intense yet.”

Mitch quickly agreed to her suggestion and was starting to get up, when the sudden drop of the blanket effectively halted his actions.

“Do you have my pants?”

“No, they were all but ripped off while you were in the sea, but I can fashion you a pareu, if you’d be more comfortable in one.”

“Please.”

“You’ll have to stand so I can secure the cloth about your hips,” Espri instructed as she came to him and grasped his arm to help him to his feet. Though she had known Mitch was tall, his upright male presence was overpowering to her. A quiver of excitement raced through her veins. Trying to ignore the feel of his firm muscles beneath her hands, she adjusted the cloth around his waist.

The slight touch of her body to his had an electrifying effect on him. He bent to her, whispering her name as his lips found hers, brushing them softly in a tentative caress that became more urgent.

Espri was taken by surprise, but she responded fully, knowing that this was what she’d been wanting and waiting for. Looping her arms around his neck, she strained nearer, needing to feel the hardness of his manly form against her.

Much Ado About a Widow by Jenna Jaxon

Welcome to the book blast for Much Ado About a Widow by Jenna Jaxon! Check out an excerpt from this historical romance before you download your own copy. Be sure to follow the tour and let the author know your thoughts and questions along the way. And then enter the great giveaway!

Much Ado About a Widow

Lady Georgina Kirkpatrick defied her family, jilted her fiancĂ©, and married the man she loved. But when her husband died at Waterloo, she was delivered right back into her father’s power . . .

Victory is sweet—but England’s triumph was Georgie’s rout. Now that she’s widowed, the loathsome marriage her father first arranged has simply been renegotiated. With neither money nor rights, and nowhere to flee, all she can do is cherish her last weeks of freedom. . . . Until a band of ruffians overtake her carriage and kidnap her. When she escapes in seaside Brighton and encounters her brother’s rather wild friend, Lord St. Just—whom she suspects aspires to be a pirate—she’s prepared to entertain more of his adventurous suggestions than usual . . .

St. Just knows his mind and his duty, and he loves a challenge. Helping a fair lady make her farewells to hoodlums suits his talents well. Within the hour he has Georgie, her lady’s maid—and her little dog too—sailing for his castle in Cornwall. Meanwhile, the lady’s entire family, her kidnappers, and her scheming intended are in pursuit. But as he and the indomitable Georgie grow closer, he begins to suspect that together they will prove a match for them all . . .

Read an excerpt:
A key grated in the lock. Lulu growled and stalked toward it, the fur on her back rising straight up.

“Not yet, Lulu.” Georgie gathered the leash. “Don’t bite him quite yet.”

Her dog stopped advancing on the door; however, the growling did not abate. Better be safe. She gathered Lulu into her arms. “I’ll give you the signal.”

The cabin door swung open, revealing Lord St. Just, an impossibly broad grin on his face. “Wait until I tell you what my men and I just did.”

“You don’t have to tell me, my lord. I already know.” Georgie glared at him and held Lulu tighter. The little animal was shaking, and Georgie was sure if she loosened her grip Lulu would launch herself at the unwary marquess. Serve him right too.

“You do?” He frowned and cocked his head, which made him look like a puzzled puppy. Lulu looked just like that whenever she was unhappy. But what did he have to be unhappy about? He was the one who had kidnapped her.

“You have set sail, my lord, with me and my maid aboard against our wills. Many sensible people call that kidnapping.” She’d always known this man was a pirate. In fact, she’d told her brother so. She handed Lulu to Clara before the dog could leap out of her arms and tear at his lordship’s throat. If anyone was going to attack the marquess, it would be Georgie herself. Plant him a facer and see how he liked being set upon.

“Oh.” The impossible man was all smiles again. “Yes, we had to put out or miss the evening tide.” His grin had returned, showing many straight, white teeth. “But we did manage to steal your trunks, Lady Georgina. If you will consider yourself abducted again, at least rejoice in the fact that you will have clean linen throughout the ordeal.”

Read an excerpt:
Sheffield cornered Sophia against the tree tucked in the dark recesses of the garden.

“Well, I suppose you will do.”

“Do for what?”

“The kiss I was promised.”

“I have not promised you a kiss.”

“No, you did not. However, your friend lured me into the garden to compromise her. Since she has broken our engagement to trifle with Wildeburg, I have been left abandoned. Therefore, because a kiss was promised, somebody must fulfill the bargain. So, that leaves you.”

“You are absurd, no gentleman would suggest such an offer was made.”

“I’m not feeling very gentlemanly at the moment, since Lady Sidney passed me over for a mere marquess. As her best friend, Sophia, it falls on to you to console me.”

They were hidden in the shadows. Sophia tried to sneak around him, but his body surrounded hers. She gasped as he bent his head to press his mouth to hers. They were warm as they coaxed her lips apart. Without realizing her actions, she wrapped her arms around his neck drawing him in closer to their kiss.

He only meant to scare her. But his bruised ego fought against the moral code of a gentleman and he'd threatened her with a kiss. If it were not for her interfering, he would still be engaged to Sidney Hartridge. Instead he was once again in the market for a bride. A kiss would warn her against trifling with his life.

He stood before her, raking his eyes over her appearance.

“Not what I expected, but it will do.”

Arizona Caress by Bobbi Smith

Arizona Caress

A dashing man from back east meets an unconventional Native American woman and they join hearts against all odds in this spellbinding tale of passion and western adventure from New York Times bestselling author Bobbi Smith.

Chance Broderick has plenty of charm and more than enough wealth, and his life among the Boston Brahmins offers plenty of tempting distractions. But when he receives word that his brother is in grave danger in the Arizona Territory, Chance dutifully travels west to help. There he finds wild, vast lawless lands full of surprises. But his greatest shock on the frontier is when he discovers that the tracker he’s hired is not the brash young boy he assumed, but a beautiful young Native American woman, Rori.

Raised by her Native American grandfather after the death of her white father and her Pima mother, Rori is an expert tracker who knows how to fend for herself. Chance is fascinated but she takes an instant dislike to him and nothing will satisfy her more than showing the arrogant man from back east a thing or two about how things are done on the frontier out west. Nothing could satisfy her more, that is, except the pleasure of his searing touch, his soft kisses. For Rori can’t help craving Chance as fiercely as he desires her and as they overcome the worlds of indifference and hostility which threaten to separate them, they find true love is their one destiny.

Read an excerpt:
“Are you sure about this, Chance?” Doug asked his brother as they rode back to the Indian village.

“I’m sure. I made a promise to her grandfather to do my best for her, and I intend to do just that.”

A few villagers looked up as Chance and Doug rode back into the village and stopped in front of Rori’s lodge. Chance dismounted and strode forward to throw wide the door flap.

Rori was feeling sad and lonely. She was ready to pack up her few belongings and leave the Pima encampment, when she heard the sound of horses outside.

“Rori!” Chance called her name as he entered unannounced.

Rori never dreamed Chance would come back for her. His good-bye had been too final, too devastating. She stared at him in mute surprise, her defenses down.

Chance took one look around the lodge and knew he’d been right. She was unhappy and it was all his fault.

Rori was tired of fighting the loneliness that had haunted her since her grandfather’s death. For just that moment, she allowed herself to believe Chance had come back because he wanted her. She stared at him, her heart beating painfully. His next words to her were so callous and demanding that they jarred her from her young girl’s reverie.

“You’re coming with me,” he ordered in a tone that brooked no argument.

At his commanding attitude, her eyes narrowed in suspicion. As much as she would have loved to throw herself into his arms, she refused to give in to the desire. She knew Chance, and she didn’t trust him.

“I ain’t going anywhere with you, Broderick!”

from Dueling with the Duke
by Eileen Dreyer
January

She had a face that was completely forgettable. At least that was the way Jamie had described her. A girl you might overlook if you weren’t careful, which Jamie had said would be a shame.

Jamie had been correct. If Adam had simply seen Jamie’s wife sitting at a desk, he would have walked right by. It was when she moved that she began to make an impression. She had a compelling grace, especially for a small woman. He would have expected her to, well, bounce like a small bird on a fence. She glided as if books rested on her head.

Of course, he thought almost smiling. A marquess’s daughter. She had undoubtedly balanced a goodly number of books on her head.

“How can I help you, Your Grace?” she asked, setting her glasses down on a table and rising to her feet. “I don’t believe we’ve met?”

“To my eternal regret,” he said, “we have not met before now. I should have begun at the beginning. I am Adam Marrick, Mrs. Grace. Jamie’s cousin.”

And there it was, he thought. The reason Jamie had fallen in love with Georgina Wyndham in the first place. That smile. Wide, bright, warm, all-encompassing, as if she embraced not just him but the world. Before he knew it, Adam was smiling back.

“He loved you very much,” he said.

Her eyes glittered with welling tears, but that smile held. “I know,” she whispered. “I loved him dearly. I am so very glad to finally meet you. He spoke of you as well, of course. You were quite his hero. Hussars, wasn’t it?”

“It was.”

She invited him to sit, where they enjoyed a bit of society over tea.

“Lully,” he blurted out, appalled at his own clumsiness. “I’m really here for her.”

His words were met with a rather stark silence. “Pardon?”

He nodded, setting down his saucer. “I am actually here to bring her some news.”

Again Georgie tilted her head. “Lully is four, Your Grace. What news could you have to give her?”

This wasn’t going the way he’d planned. He should have believed Jamie from the start. Maybe his reaction to Georgie wouldn’t have knocked him so off-center.

“I need to take her to Scotland.”

“I beg your pardon?”

He tried briefly closing his eyes. “She is needed there.”

She was staring at him as if he’d begun to bark like a dog. “In Scotland.” Suddenly she was getting to her feet. “Are you feeling perfectly well, Your Grace?” she asked. “I can call for the local physician. He is old, but….”

He should have known this would be her reaction. “No,” he said, There was no avoiding it. He had to get to his feet as well. “No,” he said, grabbing his cane and hoisting himself up, his knee protesting like an unoiled hinge. “I am not ill. I was coming to see you anyway. I promise. Not only because I wanted to meet the woman who had stolen Jamie’s heart, but because I made a promise to him.”

“That is lovely.” Her voice didn’t sound like it. “But not to the point.”

He nodded and took another breath. “There is news,” he repeated. “Jamie’s mother has died.”

“I’m sorry to hear that.”

She neither sounded nor looked like she meant it. Having known Jamie’s mother well, he couldn’t really blame her. “If we could sit...”

Giving him a chagrined nod, she sat after him. “How can that concern us?” she asked. “Jamie’s family made certain we knew we were not welcome.”

“Well, since Jamie is…gone, it means that Lully has inherited. I need to take her with me to accept.”

Adam didn’t think you could see fire in the color green. He certainly could now.

“Inherited? Inherited what? Jamie was disowned.”

“You cannot disown a title, Mrs. Grace.”

“A what?”

“She is no longer simply a little girl,” he said as gently as he could. “She’s a duchess.”

She seemed to glide up to her feet, rising to her full height, which suddenly seemed not so insignificant. Following to his own feet, Adam wondered suddenly how anyone could possibly think she was forgettable. She was Boedica, Titania, Maeve. He had the oddest feeling she was looking down at him, instead of standing at his shoulder.

And then she closed the conversation.

“No.”

Believe in Me (The Worthingtons) by Ella Quinn

Welcome to the book blast for Believe in Me, the sixth book in The Worthingtons series by Ella Quinn. Please enjoy this excerpt and leave comments and questions for the author. Then you can follow the rest of the tour for more excerpts and extra chances to win the giveaway!

Believe in Me (The Worthingtons #6)

Even the Worthington least likely to wed may find her perfect match . . .

Marriage has worked out quite nicely for her older sisters, yet Lady Augusta Vivers is certain it would end her studies in languages and geography, and stop her from travelling. But when her mother thwarts her plan to attend the only university in Europe that accepts women—in Italy—she is forced to agree to one London Season. Spending her time at parties proves an empty diversion—until she encounters the well-traveled Lord Phineas Carter-Wood. Still, Europe awaits . . .

Phineas has studied architecture all over the world, yet Augusta is his most intriguing discovery yet. How can he resist a woman who loves maps and far-off lands? But her longing for all things foreign hinders any hope of courtship. When he learns her cousins have offered a trip to Europe, he secretly arranges to join their party. For he is determined to show Augusta that a real union is a thrilling adventure of its own. And when their journey is beset by dangerous obstacles, he gets far more opportunity than he bargained for . . .

Read an excerpt:
“Italy!” Her brother’s bellow could probably be heard all over the town house and in Berkeley Square. Possibly even farther.

From her position on the sofa, Lady Augusta Vivers stifled a sigh. She refused to allow her posture to sag or disappointment to show on her countenance. She had known her campaign to be allowed to attend university was not going to be easy. Perhaps she should have started her scheme earlier. Or given her brother a hint to temper his shock.

“It is not as if Padua is some unknown place in South America or Africa,” she pointed out calmly.

“Where on earth did you come up with such an . . . idea?” Her mother paled a bit and her faint voice pierced the deadened air.

“I wish to further my studies.” Augusta fought to keep the exasperation from her tone. Why else would she want to go to university? Not only that, but traveling there and living in Italy for a time would allow her to see a little of the world she had been studying. “As educated as Miss Tallerton and Mr. Winters are, they long ago exhausted the limits of what they can teach me. Which is the reason I have been corresponding with professors in Europe and taking lessons from visiting scholars, hoping to learn more. It is no longer enough.” In fact, her thirst for knowledge had grown to the point that she needed to attend university as much as she needed food or air. “Yet it has become clear that the only way I am going to succeed is by studying with experts. For that, I must attend university.”

“But, my dear”—her mother paused for a moment as if to gather her thoughts—“do you not wish to wed?”

Of course she did. Just. Not. Now. “I do not recall anyone asking Charlie if he was forsaking marriage simply because he wished to attend Oxford.” She wished Grace’s brother, properly called the Earl of Stanwood was here. He’d be able to help. Augusta turned her gaze back to Matt. As her guardian and Earl of Worthington, he was the final decision maker. “If I were a boy you would allow me to go.”

Texas Splendor by Bobbi Smith

Welcome to the blurb blitz tour for Texas Splendor by Bobbi Smith! Check out an excerpt and then follow the rest of the tour for more excerpts and lots of chances to win the giveaway!

Texas Splendor

He Claimed Her Body. . .

Though an Easterner born and bred, Trista Sinclair fell in love with the rugged Texas terrain the moment she arrived to join her fiancé. But the warnings she heard around the ranch about the dangers awaiting her in the wild terrain of Texas come to life when she is captured while out riding by a blue-eyed Comanche warrior...a man whose sensual touch is far more dangerous than his brute strength.

But Wanted Her Heart And Soul. . .

Lance Barrett has never been tempted to take a captive until he sees a beautiful woman with hair like spun gold taming a magnificent stallion. Trista Sinclair is his half-brother's fiancé, and the perfect means of revenge against the white father who rejected him. Yet what Lance wants most is the one thing Trista swears never to give--her willing surrender. Torn between the life each has known and a desire neither can resist, only together can they claim a love as vast and wild as the West itself...

Read an excerpt:
Lance was closing in fast on the golden stallion. His heartbeat quickened at the prospect of finally attaining the prize. The golden one would be his.

It was then that Trista came into Lance’s line of vision. Lance glanced back, wondering if others were with her, and he was relieved to find she was alone. The last thing he wanted was a confrontation with any whites. Right now, only the golden one mattered.

Trista grew even more excited as she closed in on the wild stallion. She rose up and threw her rope, but just then Lance charged past her. Shocked at seeing the warrior, she dropped the rope and reined in, but her faithful mount stumbled and she was thrown.

Lance captured the golden one and, after tying the stallion up, went back to search for the woman. He had no idea if she was armed, so he moved slowly and silently. He came upon Trista just as she managed to sit up. She looked up at him, and he felt a sudden unexpected jolt of recognition. The woman was none other than the beautiful female he’d seen from a distance at his father’s house the night before.

Terror filled Trista as she stared up at the warrior. She saw only sun-bronzed nakedness and streaks of red and black paint slashed across his face. She had heard of the horror of Comanche raids and knew she had to act. There was no time to think. In a lightning move, she grabbed a handful of the sandy soil and threw it in the warrior’s face, and then ran.

Lance had not been expecting her attack. Angered, yet respecting her daring, he wiped the grit from his eyes and started after her.

Trista rushed down the hillside, but lost her footing and tumbled to the bottom, crashing against a bolder. Excruciating pain wracked her, but she staggered to her feet, clutching her side. A pebble fell, and she looked up. Her eyes widened as she saw the warrior silently standing atop the hill, his arms folded across the powerful width of his chest. She forced herself to keep moving.

She managed only a few tortured steps before it was over. He grabbed her and held her pinned against him in submission. Terror filled her, but she fought to keep her fear from showing. Someone had told her the Comanche respected only strength, so she bravely raised her eyes to meet his. It was then she discovered the startling color of her captor’s eyes – his gaze was a riveting, vivid blue. She tried to fight, but his hands were unyielding cuffs of steel.

Lance was unaware of the mercilessness of his grip as he stared down at her. He saw the ring she wore on her left hand that bore the insignia of the Barrett brand. He wondered coldly at her connection to the Royal Diamond and the Barretts.

“Do you need help Skye?” his dark voice invaded her thoughts.

She sat up in the tub, causing water to rush out, splashing on the floor in waves. Then she swiftly slipped under the water until only her face was emerged. She grabbed the towel from the stool and covered her body with it. The rotten luck with that was she realized it was the only thing to cover herself with when she planned to exit the bath. And exit she must, to clothe herself against him.

“How did you get in here?” she demanded.

“Now Skye, I can get in anywhere I want. That is a warning to you, you won’t keep me from anywhere I want to go,” he explained as he emphasized her god given name.

He sounded so proud of himself that he learned her name. She wondered which one squealed first, Agatha or Isobel. Traitors the whole lot; she would handle them later. Why was everybody in her clan trying to play matchmaker with this man? Did they not see what he was? A scoundrel of the highest order. He oozed his charm, obviously on the women of her clan. Well he wouldn’t charm any information out of her.

“Leave this room right this instant. Have you no shame? You sir are no gentleman.”

“I never said I was.”

“Scoundrel.”

“Tyrant.”

“Rogue.”

“Temptress,” he whispered to himself. But not quietly enough, for she overheard the words which passed through his lips.

Read an excerpt:
She watched him from the stairs. Her heart had not stopped beating fast since she seen him walk into the tavern. He was in danger and she had no way to warn him. If she did it would blow the cover she had worked so hard on, she was not going to lose what ground she had gained; just because her heart wanted to betray her. Why was he here? Didn’t he know Shears wanted him dead? Why was he so bent on trailing him? Was he looking for her too? That was only wishful thinking on her part, the kind of thinking that could only get her into trouble. He would want nothing to do with her, not after he knew her whole part in kidnapping him. Which he probably knows by now. After all she was captured by his soon to be brother-in-law.

Thornhill would have told him how she was behind the plot to kidnap him and how closely involved she was with Shears to bring the terror to England. It did not matter that she had instead nursed him back to health and tried to thwart Shears’s terror plans.

He looked healthy as if he had made a complete recovery. The bruises had disappeared from his face. He was even more handsome than she could imagine.

As he leaned back in his chair, she watched as he smiled at Bessie. Her breath caught as she saw the charm that overflowed from his smile. When his smile reached his eyes, they lighted up in enjoyment. She never got to enjoy his smile, he was always in too much pain. Even when his pain receded, they were always in too grave of danger to have a reason to smile.

Another emotion began to take place as she saw him flirt with Bessie. When he pulled Bessie onto his lap, nuzzling at her neck; she felt angry. Not just angry but betrayed. How could he pull another woman into his embrace and share intimacy with her? Did the words and kisses they share not mean anything to him? Obviously not.

She watched as Bessie stroked his arm and listened as he told Bessie he would join her in her room later. Well we will see about that, won’t we, Mr. Charmer? She planned to wait for him there.
