“Please,” I scoffed. “People watch you all the time. You must know that. You’re this presence that people like watching. I don’t know. You’re fascinating.” He blinked slowly a couple times, making me feel all sorts of nervous. “Nevermind.”

“No, finish your thought. I’m curious.” He nudged me with his leg and raised his dark brows.

“Fishing for compliments, Brock?” I teased, but stopped when his expression turned serious. My stomach soured, empathy taking over. This was a guy who thought very low of himself since the accident. As tough and intelligent as he was, he was a little broken inside. “You handsome, silly man.”

One side of his lip curled up, but those dark blues eyes waited for me to continue. I put my small hand on his arm this time, squeezing him. “No one watches you with pity, Brock. If that’s what you’re thinking. They watch you with awe and pride. Here you are, in the prime of most men’s athletic years working your ass off for a sport you were forced to give up. You’re amazing, really. You’re intelligent, everyone who works around you admires the hell out of you, and you refused to let life get the best of you. You help the dumbasses like Q and Chip, make sure your staff is treated fairly, and you helped me with this project which you had no obligation to do. You’re a good guy, Brock. Sometimes, I think you forget that.”

My heart pounded as his face fell slightly, his lips pressing together so hard they turned white. His eyes shattered me and I panicked, needing to ease the tension. I patted his knee with a shaking hand. “Although, you can be a bit grumpy.”

**My thoughts**

I love reading Jaqueline Snowe's books, so I was thrilled to see a new one available. This one holds true to her style of writing about young adults involved in sports on some level. But it also strays from what I'm used to as this one has more of a slow burn between the main characters. And I was okay with that.

I think Grace is my favorite female lead so far in Snowe's books. She was forced into independence by being orphaned by the age of 18. An accident in her past also gave her some minor physical restrictions in life that she has been able to overcome through sheer determination. She has an amazing strength about her. But she is also soft inside and vulnerable.

When we meet Brock, she has dubbed him Asshole Anderson, and for good reason. He is just belligerent and cranky and a slave driver. But you do get the sense right away that there is good reason for it. We know that he was injured and his football career was cut short. But there's more there.

The two of them are perfect for each other. They innately understand each other, even if they don't realize it, because they have both been through serious tragedies in their lives. Grace has a light about her that can bring Brock out of his darkness. And he is able to teach her so much about herself and help her achieve her dream in life. 

I love watching their relationship ebb and flow, even if it is frustrating at times. I've been around those men who seem to swing back and forth in their affections. So I understood a lot of what Grace was going through with this and in other aspects of her life.

At the end of the book, Snowe suddenly shifts gears to her more usual smoldering style of storytelling. I almost felt like the last part of the book felt a little out of place with the way the rest of the story was unfolding and perhaps I was reading a different story. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this story and devoured it in one evening.

**My thoughts**

I absolutely adore this series, so I was very excited when I saw the third book had been released.

Kenzie and Tanner are playing with fire. They have the most amazing physical relationship (which is going to melt your Kindle), which can be good, but can also backfire. Add in the complication of Kenzie being Tanner's friend Aaron's little sister and it really gets interesting. Aaron would absolutely kill Tanner if he knew the truth about his relationship with his little sister.

While the two of them have a smoking sexual relationship, at the same time they also teach and understand each other on a level that no one else can comprehend. And that's the magical part of their relationship. It's just no one knows about it.

That's not to say they don't have their ups and downs. This is only supposed to be a summer fling, though you know they both want more. Tanner is trying to focus on his baseball career and has a lot of family issues. Kenzie is also no stranger to the family issues and is trying to focus on the start of her college career. But you know they could make it work if they tried.

Loved this installment and really hope there is more coming soon! And yes, it does work well as a standalone, though I do recommend reading the rest of the series, just because it is so much fun.

“What?”

Ah, a look I had seen many, many times. Whenever I confused him or had an asinine idea, those brows joined as one and looked like a caterpillar.

“Just do it.” I pulled out the picture I’d ripped from the magazine. “I’m comparing before I get your autograph and sell it with the description of true to life. Hey, don’t judge me. I have student debt. I need the moolah.”

He glanced at the picture I held up. “God, you’re a dick.”

**My thoughts**

I'm officially a huge Jaqueline Snowe fan. This is my second book of hers that I have read and I love this one just as much as the first one. I was attracted to this title because it is a friends-to-lovers story, which is one of my favorites. Plus it involves a football player. I am a big football fan and love reading stories about sports players. I don't know why, but I do.

This story was fantastic. I love Kate. She is smart and sassy. Her chemistry with Brody is intense and intoxicating. She has some self-esteem issues from her previous boyfriend James being an ass, but holds it together well when around Brody and his buddies. He gives her the boost that she needs.

Brody is definitely kind of cocky as a star football player hoping to make it big in the NFL. He prefers to sleep around, but acknowledges that is to feel a gaping hole in his life left by his brother committing suicide a few years ago. He doesn't know how else to deal with his pain. But Kate is able to fill some of that void. 

Neither one of them is perfect. They both are so realistic with their issues and flaws balancing out their finer points. This is the first time that they have realized that they have an attraction to each other. But time apart has helped them realize this. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? 

The fire between the two of them is a slow burn, starting with a flicker in the beginning and gradually gaining in intensity. Even when the fireworks start to explode, they still take their time and don't dive into a highly sexual relationship, which seems much more realistic to me than those lust at first sight type of stories. I even want to be friends with these people in real life, because they are just a lot of fun. 

Sports plus sass plus sexiness equals a pleasurable steamy read that kept me glued to my Kindle all evening long and was a great distraction from life's craziness. I can't wait for her next book to come out.

I led Peyton upstairs after grabbing her bag, our hands brushing together sending that same hot sizzle coursing through my body.

“You can shower up in here.” I guided her into my room, giving it a quick once over.

“What about you?” she asked, strolling closer.

“Are you inviting me to join you in the shower?” Because if so I was in danger of shredding my shorts with my rapidly hardening cock.

“Maybe.” She blushed deliciously.

Drawing her straight against me, I brushed a light kiss over her smooth, slightly salty lips. “Trust me, darlin’. If my mom and Liv weren’t here I’d have us both stripped down and you soaking wet in ten seconds flat.”

Her fingertips made small circles through the black hair on my chest, and I cursed quietly. “Who says you haven’t already made me wet?”

“Now I gotta go cool down before I do something everyone will hear.” I rushed out of the room, her smoky laughter following me all the way. 

Hurrying downstairs, I stripped off and dove into the outside shower, hitting that shit on straight-up ice cold. No joy. Even the icy prickles of water couldn’t deflate my cock.

I pull the top of my buttoned cardigan closer to my chest. My cheeks are on fire as Saint steps closer to me. 

“We can’t. Not here,” I whisper. “This place is sacred.” 

Saint smirks at me. “We can’t do what? I’m not doing anything.” He inches closer to me and my heart races. “Did you want to do something? With me?” 

“I need to set the candles out for the evening service,” I say, my voice cracking. I turn my back to him and look once more into the old cedar cupboard. I pull out a dozen white taper candles and drop half of them on the floor. 

“Do I make you nervous or something?” Saint growls from behind me. 

I bend down to pick up the candlesticks and feel Saint’s eyes burning through the fabric of my floor-length skirt. I stand up quickly and hold the candles close to my chest. “I really have to go replace these.” 

Saint reaches his hands over to my chest and I freeze. “Let me carry those for you.” 

I’m speechless as he gathers them into his hands, his fingertips brushing against the soft fabric of my cardigan. I close my eyes, my breathing slow and deep. I try not to think about what he wants to do with those hands. 

God is watching us.

**My thoughts**

I remember reading the early part of this series as it was coming out and was madly in love with every page. I inadvertently missed the next few that came out, so I was ecstatic when the opportunity to read and review this latest installment came my way. You don't have to read this series in order to be able to appreciate each installment. A bottle of wine, a warm spring day, and a comfy seat on the front porch, and I settled in with my read.

As per usual with this series, I was completely immersed in their world and madly in love with the characters. Parker is gorgeous, athletic, and intelligent. Plus he owns a vineyard, which is another amazing perk. Juliet has a big heart and is absolutely brilliant. What I love the most about her is that she is so smart, but doesn't act like a know-it-all. The two of them have incredible chemistry and banter. They challenge each other. They just don't open up and communicate very well about their thoughts and feelings.

Their roller coaster ride makes you want to smack them both upside the head many times as their pride gets in their way. But isn't that how these relationships seem to go? I can understand some of their apprehension, as they have known each other for so long. It's just that they've become different people since then and need to let go of those former impressions. Give in to your hearts, people! And be honest with each other, because you are missing out on something wonderful.

Of course, if they did that, there wouldn't be enough of that romantic conflict to tell a good story, right?

Speaking of conflict, this book would not be complete without a little bit of suspense to keep things interesting. There's just enough suspense enveloping Juliet and the island as she tries to push forward with her sea turtle project. I love this blend of suspenseful romance, because it adds a different dimension to the story. Add in the beautiful setting of Greece and you have a winner. Pamela Aares has a gift for putting these together without overdoing either angle. It is smartly written and makes me crave going back through the series.
